High Traffic

Hello all.

I am at a loss and need some serious help.

I have a website that I have worked on for a couple of years. Last year at one stage I was receiving very large amounts of traffic. So much so we crashed a shared server with godaddy. At one stage we were receiving 3 new visitors every second and click the lights went out. The site went down and it took us (non web friendly folks ) three weeks to get it back up. Google penalised us and it has taken almost a year for the traffic and rankings to come back.

I now have our own very capable server. This year our traffic has grown and again I am receiving high volumes. 38,000+ unique visitors per month and over 590,000 pageviews. Please do not think this is a boast... I do not know what to do with this traffic and want to make money from it. I do not use any (black hat ? or other types of seo work)

Who do we talk to? Who do we contact? Can someone please point us in the right direction.

    Joe,

    What is your site about?

    Niche? Traffic source? etc.

    If you get a bit specific please, so people here can guide you, else we have so much to type but that would be of no use for you.

      Hi,

      The site is a shopping site that puts on the top ten / twenty products in various categories.

      90% of my traffic is from google searches with 10% bing and yahoo and a couple of others.

      I only use amazons products.

      A couple of people have told me to build a comparison site - or a landing site - to monetize it.

      Is this info of help?

        What you really need to do is be an Amazon affiliate. Perhaps there's a way you can code your affiliate link on each and every product so when someone visits your site and buys a product you have listed, then you make a commission.

    Unless I missed mention of it - entirely possible with my Sunday brain on - I don't believe you talked about the market in which the website operates or indeed the type of website. Without this information - and with or without the Sunday brain in operation - I can be of limited help.

    Hi Joe,

    There's 2 things I would do with the traffic if you're not already doing so that will benefit you greatly.

    1. Get an autoresponder - Aweber, GetResponse, Mailchimp are popular choices.
    2. Setup some optin forms to start building a subscriber list from your traffic so that you can email email them helpful info about your niche which will be monetized with "top converting affiliate products" So you'll land up earning on autopilot because your autoresponder does the hard work for you. Having a list will be a long term business for you even if you one day lose that traffic.

    You already have the traffic, so it's a great option for ya!

    Many of us land up having the setup and monetized funnel without the traffic

      This is very interesting I will look into this.
      When I purchased the domain name it had no site but I was receiving in excess of 10, 000 uniques a month. If only I knew what to do.
      I have recently purchased the .in name and I am already being offered money for it. I would be very interested in working with a company or specialist individual that could grow this site. I would be happy to invest.

    My monthly traffic is 98,000 + not 38,000

    Can anyone recommend a company that I can contact ... I don't expect anything for free but I am becoming more and more aware that this level of traffic is very valuable.

        No I have no ads whatsoever. . I joined Commission junction and most of the advertisers said no. Don't know why but hey ho there loss too ... ha ha

        This coming year I am going to dedicate 75% of my time learning and 25% doing. I am so frustrated due to my complete lack of knowledge.

      I think it is because my domain url is the main keywords for some of the largest online shopping sites on the net. That is in my humble opinion why... I may be wrong, I often am
