Is it possible to tap this?

I am looking to find long tail keywords that would be easier to get organic search from for my michigan insurance agency. (home and auto insurance) It would be impossible for me to compete with keywords such as car insurance quotes, etc.. I am looking to target keyword phrases like auto insurance grand rapids michigan, auto insurance grand rapids, car insurance lansing mi, etc.. Could I come up with enough keywords to generate 100-200 insurance quote leads/month? If so, would the competition be too competitive? Here is my site shop4insurance.org

I am pretty sure you could Jayson, it would just take a while.

Look for the long tailed keywords, such as the ones you mentioned that are usually three words and longer.

Check those keywords and compare them against the top results in google and see how many backlinks, their SEO on page optimization and so forth.

There are a lot of long tail keywords that add up as much as you would spend a long time on one main keyword.

Also, the insurance niche isn't that easy to land into, but since you are down to a specific state/location, that is a good start.

The two keywords that are the only easy way in are: aaa michigan insurance &
aaa michigan auto insurance, from a quick search do not have a lot of competition unlike the other keywords... Although, you should really look at the top sites for that keyword rather than the competition.

You will need to do quite a bit of keyword research, using Google's external keyword tool is a good place to start, this will give you tons of keywords that you could possibly target, it will give you some valuable info, eg; how many searches each keyword get every month and also check the competition of each keyword as you don't want to be targetting competitive keywords to begin with.

If your not sure how to do basic keyword research use the search function on here and type in "keyword research" or something similar and you will be sure to find some really helpful threads detailing basic keyword research and what you should look for.

    Good Luck,
    KD
