Ebay Affiliate Problems - I Need Help or a Hammer !

A few years back I made a bunch of Ebay affiliate websites that sell high end items on Ebay. When I did this... these sites initially did very well and I made a few bucks for a couple of years. Over the last few years it seems as they have changed their commission structure and no one goes on and buys a high priced item as buy now and it seems I don't get a commission anymore.

An example of one of my sites is here:

Used Construction Equipment - Equipment-King --- Used Harley Davidson Auction

Now I have about 15 sites just like this one sitting idle and doing next to nothing. I'm ready to ditch them all but I think I should make a post and ask the experts for help before I smash them. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do with these sites to begin making a some cash with them again? I wanted to go to Amazon...but they don't sell these items? D

Does anyone know of any other affiliate programs that would work for me??

I thought about paid parking the domains...but then I'm only making pennies. I have thousands invested in this portfolio of sites.

Ebay your killing me !!!

All your help is appreciated !

Being that they are "used" products, don't know what other avenue you have. Your kind of stuck. That or flip they to some one else that knows what to do with them?

Sorry not much of an answer. Maybe a ebay expert will chine in with better advice.

He was stuffing cookies to force an eBay affiliate cookie into anyone who visited his sites.

His claim is that this was supported by eBay and he was treated like royalty as one of their top affiliates.

But the FTC came cracking own and eBay worked with the FTC to bring him down.

Yeah not doubt...I found an article on him.

I don't want to do anything like that.....I just have a few sites I've worked hard on over the years and I need someone to help me figure out what to do with them or with their traffic. They are odd niches or I would work with a list builder/product creator and try to figure that end of it out.

If anyone wants to look over my stuff and come up with a plan....I'll pay for quality help !

eBay isn't necessarily the problem. Your websites are really lacking by 2014 standards. You can't just plug in eBay listings and call it a project anymore. Several years ago the hotlinked text leading to the auctions ranked in Google, but you don't really see it anymore. So what's left? That's pretty much all those sites are. And sites like that probably wouldn't pass new account inspection today actually. You're already in, but that's still something to keep in mind.

I don't know if you read the original post but that isn't his problem.

The traffic and conversions aren't his main issue- it's that eBay has changed the structure of its affiliate program so dramatically that he is not getting the same payouts on the high ticket items he promotes.

eBay used to give you a percent commission on the actual sale so you could make sweet money promoting high priced products like cars, motorcycles and industrial equipment.

EBay changed that to an EPC model rather than pay a % of the actual sale.

For people who promoted high ticket items and shared commission on $5,000+ transactions it was a big reduction in their affiliate commissions.

Amazon has high-priced items and industrial items but it does not have the used vehicle market that eBay has.

For some industrial items, Amazon may be an alternative but likely not for used vehicles and equipment.

    • Thanks for the reply - I know exactly what your saying as I can't really grab another affiliate to use? I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with these sites and it's killing me.

I hope an Ebay expert finds my post and can help out !

Sorry, don't have an answer for you, Ebays affiliate program has become a joke, look at how many tracking issues they have.

They killed the program when they went to the 24 hour cookie, not to mention you can have negative days now lol. I am letting my domains expire as they come up.

I wish there was an alternative, made great money for many years.

Though it's not my choice, what about adsense? Might be an option to make at least something?
