I've been blogging since April with not much results.

I've done what I can to get more traffic and subscribers. but its just not happening.

My traffic numbers just aren't where they should be and has caused my to lose a lot of motivation for it.

I just can't be bothered writing an article anymore.

Do you guys and gals go through this at times?

How do you combat it?

I am considering paying for somebody to write articles for me for a while. so I don't even have to think about it for a while.

What were your intentions or plans to get started in the first place?

It might be a case of going back and understanding your reason "WHY". Realising why you wanted to do is and why you're doing this now.

Consistency is key, but to help that, you'll want to build a structure. How are you doing things right now?

My intentions where to build an authority blog and decent email list, then create a product sell to them.

I am not creating an authority blog or list, let alone a product or any income.

Money shouldn't be the priority at this stage, it will naturally come into place once you have a system in place. If you've already got some decent content on your blog, then that's a start.

Without seeing what you've done it's hard to say, but you may want to consider structuring a sales funnel. This will be the starting point and a way for you to attract people to you or your brand.

You could go the blogging only route via SEO and all, but it's a lot of work and results are not going to be instant. Where as... if you had a funnel, you could start using free and paid traffic sources, to bring people of interest into whatever is you're offering, and then from there re-introduce your content to your subscribers / followers.

Building authority is tough, but it comes in time, once you have structured a system in place. If you're just blogging and doing nothing else, then you're most likely either doing it out of passion, or failing to see the concept of this as a business model.

Just like any other business, there are a lot of things to figure out before you hit gold (with IM). Either you learn from your mistakes or you pay someone for results.

Since you've already worked on your blog for a few months, I'm guessing you already have learned a couple of things and trust me however demotivated you feel these learnings are going to help you in the long run.

Now coming back to why you are not making money - The answer is simple - YOU HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET MORE TARGETED TRAFFIC! That's what it all boils down to for most IMers at the end of the day.

I'm sure you are not living with the idea that articles alone will bring bring you traffic, right? They won't. Articles, proper design, layout etc. are must have ingredients, but they alone won't bring you traffic.

You know what the biggest problem is with most who feel like quitting within a few months? They just come up with ideas (sometimes excellent ones) and they start building bogs and sites (means time and money spent) when they should actually be figuring out a traffic plan and then create blogs/sites around that.

Please don't give up. You already have your blog with you, so it's going to come handy. Start working on traffic. Read and understand the different paid ad platforms and also about organic traffic. It's bound to pay off in the near future.

      Best of luck.

Do you think MORE articles are the answer?

You represent to me the reason for so much quit in IM...no results.

If any new person spends more than 30 days with out some scalable results, they have chosen the wrong thing, especially blogging. With blogging, it may take a year to get a following, so since April isn't much time, and then it depends on topic and targeted traffic being pulled to your blog.

With all this information here, and tons of success sharing their experiences, some who kept at it for years...well, it amazes me why more people don't learn from the mistakes others have made and get faster results.

RESULTS are what keep motivation up, even small victories can be all you need to get a fresh burst of energy.

How big is your list you have built since April?

You appreciate that "blogging" doesn't in itself bring traffic?

    What's your traffic-generation plan been?

If you're using articles to generate traffic, where are you getting them published (and could that possibly be the problem, here)?

the issue isn't why I started it. its why I am continuing when I can't get traffic or subscribers.

I've been told be a marketing expert that my articles have no ethos towards my readers.

Maybe I have picked the wrong niche.

Well, clearly you can't get many subscribers if you can't get traffic. I understand that you're feeling dispirited about it, and am not trying to sound critical. But how can anyone help you if you won't say what your traffic-generation plan has been/is?

I'll be honest, here: I'm trying to work out whether you imagine that "publishing articles just on your own site" is actually going to bring you traffic. (It isn't: all that can ever bring you is a little bit of gradual, eventual search engine traffic, and it's really hard to build a list from that and really hard to monetize it, even if you do. So it's a terrible "plan". But I know that some people who post here do, apparently, expect that to bring them traffic, so am just trying to clarify it for you, in case you've misunderstood it.)

Maybe. But maybe you've just picked the wrong traffic-generation plan, or don't really have one at all, and that's how it sounds to me. (In which case it's pretty important to learn that, otherwise you may have exactly the same problem in another niche, too?).

Have you got a link to your blog? I'd love to take a look and give you some advice on what you can do to increase traffic. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can help.

If you are passionate about your niche I am sure once you see a slight increase in traffic you'll find that motivation again!

I think it's a very common feeling. After burning out so many times I've discovered that the thing that keeps me motivated is only writing about the stuff I'm passionate about, not being lead by keywords, traffic numbers or competition at first.

If you stick to subject matters that are personal and come natural to you you'll figure out the traffic and monetization soon enough.

You sound like you have the willingness to put in the effort, which means you're simply applying yourself ineffectively.

Maintaining motivation requires seeing some measure of success. The reality is, it's not hard to succeed doing what you're doing. Achieve some tangible success and the motivation will take care of itself.

Hey no need to feel down about it! Keep pushing and you will eventually find your way through it!

If you are struggling with getting traffic, then a quick and easy way to get more traffic to your blog is to put a link to a post in your Forum signature (just like I did below).

Just search up forums in your niche, create an account and add a signature.

Every business has their bumps and bruises along the way, they ALL have their humps. What will determine if you will be successful or not is how you deal with failure.

    Hope this helps

Yeah, lack of results is de-motivating.

If your aim is traffic from the search engines it takes a while and helps if you know some basic SEO.

I suggest you look into traffic generation with your posts. Consider:

    Social media
Paid traffic (I like Facebook ads if you have engaging content)
    Guest posting/syndication

If you go the paid route, start with small budgets and ensure you're profiting before cranking up the traffic volume.

If your content is good, traffic will share it (assuming you're in a niche in which people do share the content).

This will get some momentum going.

Set up and email list so you have a traffic source you control.

    It's simple but not easy.

I agree with Jgant here. Perhaps it is time to look at paid advertising.

Sounds like you are depending on SEO and that my friend is a very slippery slope. Not only is traffic slow in coming but even if you do end up getting good traffic, it could all disappear within a day the moment Google changes its algorithms.

Good ideas were already shared. You can use multifaceted approach to promoting your blog. believe that promoting a blog on ongoing basis has the same importance as regular publishing new content. Also focusing on building an interactive community can help - encourage the adience you have to post their feedback and interact with each other!
Best wishes of success and growth!

You need to see some small positive results to keep you going in this game. If your not seeing these results within 3 months you need o re-asses your plan and most likely change it and start from scratch. At least this has been my experience.

You will see how motivated you are once you see a few sales or whatever your trying to accomplish!
