I had a problem while installing vbulletin and this is what my host asked for

hello everyone, few days ago I asked here what was the best forum platform and decided to buy the vbulletin licence.
after installing it I had a problem with database and contacted vbulletin and they said that I need to contact my host, so I did and today they asked me to give them the cpanel login infos ???
why would they ask for that ? I mean this is supposed to be personal and I believe they have the knowledge to resolve the problem without the cpanel infos
thanks

How would they resolve anything without having access to your cpanel? They need the login info. After they fix the issue just change it.

I'm not sure why your host would ask for your cpanel login, since your host can login as you without your password. But then keeping that in mind it won't make any diffirence to give it to them, just change it once they resolve the issue.

To investigate your issue the vendor needs to have access to your files and the database.

I guess they need your cpanel credentials to access the database by the webinterface.

Otherwise vendors usually require FTP access which you can configure to allow only access to a certain directory on good hosters.

As mentioned before - if you want them to help you give them the login access and change your password once they are done.
