Amazon Affiliates - Ordered vs Despatched Items

Hi Everyone,

I have litrally this month just started putting amazon affiliate links on my youtube videos and I have a query about Ordered vs Despatched items.

As you can see here...i have two ordered but only 1 despatched i have been paid for (a cheap as chips book i didnt link too!).



That one that has been ordered but not despatched has been there for a week now. Does anyone else get this? What causes this? The item is in stock so i cant imagine its still not been despatched.

Hope you can help a confused noob!

    I remember being confused about this as well when I was starting out. But I think this is the answer you're looking for:
    Why is the number of Ordered Items and Shipped Items different?

    Sometimes customers place orders that don't get shipped. This may happen for a variety of reasons, such as customers canceling orders or merchants running out of inventory.

    Since you're so new, I imagine you haven't had a chance to look through all the various FAQs and the various policies that Amazon has, but when you do have some time, I highly recommend at least skimming through as much as you can. You'll undoubtedly learn some things you never even thought to ask. You should also know that the Amazon Associate support phone number is generally pretty helpful. You should always feel free to give them a call if you run into questions.

      a) reporting is on a daily basis only, so tomorrow you will see any orders of today.
      b) the TOS of the affiliate program prohibit ordering for own use through affiliate links. These orders don't earn a commission (and Amazon is very good at detecting you and others in your household).

        Yes, the previous days results are released at around 5:30am the next morning so I usually check my Amazon activity first thing.

        I didn't mean that I ordered 3 items. I meant that someone placed an order for 3 items but no earnings came through so the order was probably cancelled.

        Fingers crossed for some earnings tomorrow morning.

          Actually one of the three items that I talked about higher up was labeled as dispatched this morning plus my commission, for that product, was paid this morning as well.

          That's a first for me in that I did not get a commission upon purchase but upon dispatch.

          I'll see if the same happens to the 2 remaining items.

          Has anyone else come across this before?

    I wouldn't worry about it too much. The shipped items and your earnings is really the most valuable statistic to focus on.

    What happens between ordering and shipping is out of your hands and in the worst case an order will not add up to your earnings later on. Or someone returns an item, which will later on be subtracted from your earnings. I think it would indeed be valuable to go through the FAQ's on the Associate pages.

    I like this amazon affiliate lark...its only earned me 25 pence from 44 clicks...but every little helps!

      Yes, this Amazon lark is fun and I am scaling up.

      Your earnings per click are .568p per click. Mine are .98p per click and I mainly use social media for traffic so it's not highly targeted.

      You should be able to increase your conversions and earn more per click.
