Question about APPs ....and building them
For some time I have had an idea bout an app which I think would be beneficial to many worldwide... I am convinced it would sell well ..I won't go into details as to the application and what it will do for obvious reasons.
I have never pursued the idea, due to my thinking it would cost more than I could afford to develop.
I have just come across this website MIT App Inventor | Explore MIT App Inventor
and from what I can make out, it could be the answer to my prayers.
. but I am not sure. 
I do not own a modern type phone/ tablet .. I prefer keys you can press rather than all this modern geeky stuff ... yes I am getting old, but hey ..you will too one day
My question is this: This website allows you to build apps free and even teaches you how ..they talk about "android" being the platform for the app .. is this a standard platform for all modern type phones?
I don't want to spend hours or even weeks of my time learning something new if it is not going to suit the market place.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
