Blog commenting point system?

I have seen blogs with widgets in sidebars that list top commenters, like top 5-10. Not exactly a reward system, but gives them something. Only thing I know of that is close.

I understand what you're asking for. And, I searched the WP database of similar plug ins but was unable to find anything but ones that allow a rating of comments. The plug ins that I found did not in any way do what you were asking. Maybe this is an idea that a developer could bring to market for others.

I think this way will be more engaging to a blog. Readers will be more interesting in your blog everyday because they want to join the discussions in your new blog post.

Not sure what exactly is out there but in principle such a thing would work using range of blog post numbers. Say 1-50 posts = Newbie, 51 to 150 posts = Regular, 150 to 500 posts = Part of the furniture, etc.
