Is anyone else noticing how many IMers are blasting out the same email multiple times?

It started (for me) when Ryan Deiss sent out an email about "sneaky tricks" for your list. The freebie tip he gave was to send out emails twice for those people who didn't open your email the first time.

Fine - that's reasonable. If somebody didn't even notice that I emailed them the first time they won't see my second email (with different headline) as a repetitive email.

But lately I've been getting between 2-4 emails from IMers where the content is identical, I **have** opened the messages already, and the headlines are even identical. And they are sending out the messages within 24 hours of each other (over and over).

In any case I'm wondering if anyone else is noticing this, and I'm wondering if we can sort out if this is actually useful or not, despite how I happen to feel about this personally.

Has anyone tested this?

The Stompernet guy who did a keyword webinar on Saturday tells me that he gets 400% better conversion by doing this. He must have sent his email to me 4 times in 4 days.

Yes, it works. That's why people do it. However, like anything else if this is ALL you do your list will grow unresponsive to it and perhaps unsub.

You can also use tools from mail providers to send followup to ONLY those that did not open your first email.

Yup, I've noticed this as well, and not just with that one email.

I'd like to know how to send repeats (or new headlines with same content as Deiss explains), using Aweber, but I don't know how yet.

If I was to use this took I'd certainly stop at 2 sends, and NOT make a habit of it. I think some IMers are going overboard with this technique.
