Best Ebook Traffic Strategies

We had a book for about 4 years now and now the sales went down quite significantly. This was a gradual process as we could see other sites in the same niche appearing.

Then we had affiliates doing quite well in selling our sites.

Now it looks like a combination of both happening and the sales are right down. The market seems to be full of competitors and affiliates dont seem to be much good.

We have sold over 100,000 copies of the ebook @ $29 over this 4 year period.

I was wondering what else in terms of improvement can be done. We have done quite a lot, including articles, seo, facebook and other networks.

How can we dominate the same niche again with the history we have.

I would like not to disclose the ebook at this stage.

    PPC mainly adwords and some facebook social ads (getting expensive)

    CPM didnt work too well as when you do placements on high traffic sites your ads arent positioned too well. I assume CPV is same as CPM

    Whats solo ads?

      You have 4 years of experience in this niche, that means you have 4 years of contacts and probably a wicked email list right? Why not use that to your advantage? Get help from the people that you have helped with your ebook. If you were able to help others with your book they should be happy to write and testimony or give you a review or maybe even just a backlink. I would use that fact that your a well known name to your advantage and capitalize on that as much as possible. Because that is what you have that no one else does. You have the experience and you have that trust. All of these new e books are a dime a dozen written by people that nobody knows. Just my two cents. Good Luck with your new ebook!

    If you explain what all you've done, we may be able to help. From this list I could say PPC, Search Engine Ranking, special classifieds, forum crashing, and off-line targeting methods (depending on your niche).

    If you have a good history, and now competition is taking over, it may be a good time to sell your website. If you can show a history of good sales, then you should be able to get a good price for it.

    Just a thought. It could give you enough revenue to start on something new.

    we have mainly focused on adwords. done some articles. did a copy of adwords in facebook, but it wasnt profitable, did the same for Yahoo and MSN AdCenter. Tried blogging, didnt really get many sales from it.

    We havent tried any off-line at all.

    SEO was never a success for us either and while we thought about going to SEO our top converting keywords changed.... Maybe because google changed their terms and conditions.

    How much would it cost to outsource seo and article to get first page positions in google?

    Forum crashing sounds like black hat, we are trying to keep it white

    In terms of classifieds, i am not sure how to put ebooks there.

    Solo Ads are buying mailings. So instead of having JV's or Affiliates mail for you - you pay someone that has lists in your target market to mail for you. They send a solo mailing, you pay for the mailing and You keep all the cash you make.     quitting isnt an option as we did a few ebooks and this did by far the best.
    when you have inch wide mile deep niche, its quite easy to dominate it, however when there are more players on the market its hard, so this is why i am asking about dominating

    For me, tracking is the most important factor. I spend a lot of money on tracking software, and I know exactly where my traffic is coming from, when it gets there, what os and browser they're using, what website and keywords they used to find my site, and I know exactly when they buy something. Then I can concentrate on exactly the things that work, and can refrain from doing things that don't work. It saves you a lot of time and money in the long run.

    we havent really had problems with the ebook once its purchases, but you are right we can try improving the look. Thanks.

    I really like the idea of over 100,000 sold included. I think that it will work like having a testimonial.

    Depending on the niche, you may be able to do a joint venture. Find some one with some decent lists in the same or similar niche.

    Unless you're selling a commodity, you can't have that much "direct" competition - you are different somehow. Why not try to approach one of your competitors for a cross promotion? If they're doing quite well and your products compliment eachother somehow, and you each offer eachother commissions, I'm sure they'd probably be willing to do a cross promotion with someone who is as established in the market as yourself. Plus you'll make affiliate commissions from a competing product from your customers.
