Ghostwriters and Plagiarism

So, I've decided I want to get into the erotica e-book market. I've written some stuff myself and will certainly write more, but because volume is so important, I'm considering getting some stories ghostwritten.

My main concern is that people I hire may plagiarize existing work from Amazon. As I understand it, Copyscape wouldn't catch that, but once I uploaded it, Amazon probably would. Does anyone have any guidance here?

    It's all about trust.

You have to hire ghostwriters that you can trust to create original content.

You lay down the expectation from the beginning and go with someone you can trust to fulfill them.

You might ask for referrals from others who are willing to share. Ask for examples of original writing. Check out the boards and web sites of author communities. Search the forums in the niche and look for the ads of those who offer the service of ghostwriting in the niche.

The bottom line, of course, is that at some point you lay your money down and trust the writer to meet your expectations. If he/she doesn't perform, you take your lumps and move on until you find someone that does.

You might set up a payments schedule such that you only give partial payment for the initial chapter/s of your book pending your approval to continue so you can cut things off is the writing is substandard.

    Good luck to you,

    Steve

Thanks. The public consensus on author forums seems to be 'don't use ghostwriters,' which is why I'm asking here and not there.

Unfortunately, by the time I find out that my hypothetical ghostwriter has plagiarized, it's very possible that I'd be permanently banned from KDP, because as far as I know, I have no way to check their work against Amazon's library.

Sigh. Maybe I should listen to the consensus on this. I'm certainly capable of writing my own stuff, I just don't know if I can write it fast enough.

That's why ratings are used on Freelance sites. Check the feedback on the authors' profiles to know if any of the authors are capable of copying another author's work or not.

Hire somebody in this forum because you can always ask others about that person as well.

As a freelance ghost writer (sorry no erotica experience) I would also add that you pay for what you get. Talented, trustworthy writers cost way more than foreign writers using spinning software.

Could you include a clause in your ghostwriter's contract that states if the material is found to be plagiarized, there would be a legal remedy such as refund?
