Warriors,

If you were going to build and link a blog to your site and Fan page which service would you use?

I have seen a lot of this blog.domainname.com out there. Is this a good way to go about it too?

Appreciate it!

There are good blogging platforms out there like wordpress.com, blogger.com, and blog.com. If you want to host your blog yourself, you can install WordPress in a subdirectory or subdomain and start your blog there. The best free blog providers are blogger.com and wordpress.com.

Hmm... I am liking the idea of using WP then in like a subdirectory or subdomain.

      Great Info.. Thanks!

If my domain name was "example.com" I would install wordpress on that. I wouldn't create a subdomain like "blog.example.com". There are times when it does make sense to do that but if it's a fresh installation of Wordpress just install it on the root domain.

If you're linking to a fan page create a subfolder on your domain like this:

    example.com/fanpage

Then simply redirect it to your fan page URL (301 Redirect)

    Done.

PERFECT! So sub folder is better?

A subdomain would be treated as a new site by Google and have very little benefit for your main site. By placing a blog on a subfolder, the blog will be treated as part of the main site and any new content posted there will be credited to your main site.

So for instance, your blog would be, mydomain.com/blog not blog.mydomain.com
