need advice about web portal business concept

Hi guys,
i wanna ask for a suggestion, brainstorming, etc. =)

I need advice for a business concept to build a web portal. The concept is about my local country business owner, it's more to local business & successful managers, interviewing them, their point of view about business & working, stuff like that.
  1. what are the business structure/ positions need to be filled?
  2. what do you think it should be monetized?
  3. I'm planning about finding investors and co-founder, since this is a bright idea but I don't have much time to handle it.. so these stuff will be needed to be included in the business proposal.. what do you think the ROI of both investors and the co-founder should be? I don't have clear picture in my mind about this
I think this type of question is not about "make money online" stuff that's around in the forum these days, but it's more to building a real online business with system.

So it's just a real business that goes online, because I wanna include the videos, pictures, that's hi-res and make it mobile friendly...

What inspired me was websites like huff posts.

Need your help guys.

  • Visimedia,

From how I understand what you said in your post: Do you want to create a Web portal that will help local business owners in improving their business PPTs (People, Processes and Technologies)? For example:

Will your Web portal provide local business owners with content for sourcing / testing / hiring / training / supervising the right people to run and grow and expand a local business, content for formulating / testing / improving the right processes to increase business workflow efficiency, and content for developing and integrating the right technologies to expedite business efficiency, scalability and expansion targets?

yes, that will be included as the content, but the basic concept is to ask those questions to the business owners locally, and ask them if they have successfully overcome those problems.

    what do you think?

Especially , we need to ask about their success.. not just broad concept but more detail in a very specific way.

    what do you think?

    • So, the content will be generated from detailed answers of local business owners to comprehensive questionnaires, correct? If so, then found below are my general suggestions regarding the three things that you asked for in your OP...

      1. STAFFING -- Aside from creating and maintaining the Web portal along with its technical functions and visual elements as well as administrative and management staff: You need people to develop questionnaires, conduct interviews, collate data and develop content from it, such as local researchers / journalists / educators with experience in relevant academic programs at local business universities. You also need people for your advertising and marketing campaigns;

      2. Income Generation -- Local B2B affiliate programs would most likely be good, such as service packages and business products from local service providers and product manufacturers, specifically those that will appeal to your target local customers. Other laterally relevant affiliate products would also be good; and

      3. Financial Projections -- You should be able to cover this after you carefully study the specifics in your comprehensive business plan...
