Safelists Work, Here are My Results

Some people said that safelists don't work. Well, I think they're wrong.

Recently, I sent emails to 12 safelists. 11 of them are free safelists and 1 of them is paid safelist. The links in my emails led to a squeeze page where I'm offering a free report to promote a biz opp.

The total number of emails/people that I sent are 20.535. From the emails sent, I generate 488 hits with 395 unique visitors. Counting from the hits, the CTR is around 2.4%.

From those 488 hits, I generate 10 double opt-in subscribers and 1 sign up to the $1.75 biz opp. Thus, the hits-to-leads conversion rate is about 2.05% and the hits-to-biz opp sign up conversion rate is around 0.2%.

Not bad I guess, considering that I can build relationship with these new subscribers and monetize them later. What do you think?

Regards,
Zaki

They're definitely wrong, Zaki. All they really mean is that safelists didn't work for them, and that was almost always because they were using them incorrectly to try to promote something that wasn't targeted directly at safelist users. (And then they normally complain that "safelist traffic isn't targeted"! ).

You're clearly right to take a long-term view based on "subsequent monetization".

But 396 unique visitors from over 20,000 emails (less than 2%) might be disappointing, when you also allow for the fact that they're very likely to be to be low-response-rate and low-open-rate subscribers.

I suspect that may be because you're promoting a free biz-opp report rather than something specifically on "How to get traffic" (which might be much better targeting, for safelist users)?

Safelists do work but you do best with a traffic related product for sure
since that's what people really sign up to receive. I use to market heavily
to safelists back in the day, for my traffic ebook and made tens of thousands
      of dollars from those promotions.

You said that my response-rate is low. What is actually the average response rate or CTR of safelists?

        Regards,

I don't know - I think this information isn't reliably collated or available. (I don't really see how/why it could be?).

You could ask a few safelist owners, see what they say, allow for them to be exaggerating to some extent, and take an "average"?

I suspect the "true figure" will be very low, because most people who try to use safelists in fact misuse them, and don't really know how to maximize their return from safelist traffic ... so it probably wouldn't really be a very helpful thing to know, anyway.

I think they only work if you have offers that are specifically targeted to people who use these safelists.

So perhaps with a better offer your results might have been better.

Keep on trying until you fnd something that works and then i'm sure there is value by using them.

Safelists are the perfect place to find newbies to IM and MLM.

But as Raydal suggested promoting something traffic related will get the best results especially if you niche it down to a specific hot biz opp or MLM that all these newbies are promoting at the current trend.

As far as CTR and conversion 2% is about the norm when sending general credit emails. To get better results contact solos do the best, but even with those a 10% CTR is considered good for safelists.

    Hope this helps

I use safelists and how to monetize at a later date with them on a newsletter. I have had 3 signups in 20 hours on DAY ONE. I only sent to 3-4 safelists as free member. Not to sh!tty, I thought. I KNEW to keep it geared toward the safelist traffic seekers and how to point to a problem, then promise of a solution, then call to action, and then signup form. Works like heck.

Safelists do work and like Alexa Smith said the people who say they dont are doing it all wrong. There are alot of factors that are involved and it all starts with the contents of your email.Alot of people when the do safelists that automatically start trying to stuff offers down peoples throats without building a relationship first.Another way to look at it is going out to dinner and having a waiter just stuff food in your mouth immediatley or a waiter who takes the time to say hello, great you,be friendly, and make a realtionship with you before offering you something
