I did solo ads for a while back when ad swap allowed users to sell them, and I really didn't get much out of them. They converted very well, but I never got any actual sales. Does anyone have any good experience with actually making sales with solo ads? I guess I just don't see it being too great of traffic, considering they're probably subscribed to 100 other marketers.

    I don't understand ... I thought a conversion was a sale. (I'm a programmer, who dabbles in marketing)

I just meant converting from my squeeze page to actually signing up for my list.

At the end of the day, it's always going to come down to how well you market to your audience. The offer is important, but in general, the niche is broad so it's most likely going to vary. Do you currently have a structured sales funnel in place?

Just because one solo ad provider delivered good results for someone else, doesn't necessarily that you'll get a similar result. I did a solo ad for a regular buyer a while back and he pulled off 22 sales (see here: Screenshot by Lightshot).

But then again... a solo ad doesn't necessarily mean it's from a typical solo ad list, via swapping and all. If they're doing FB PPC to build their list, then it could be highly targeted and more or less more responsive, and you could even get a solo ad via related blog owners, who offer advertising to their lists, but don't necessarily promote themselves as a solo ad provider.

You'll most likely pay more, but the quality is most likely going to be better.

"Solo Ads" have been hyped up in a way that most people think they are supposed to be a guaranteed way to make immediate sales. Now, if you find a really responsive list that can happen. It's happened to me many times, however, sometimes solo ads did produce the instant hit of income you seem to be looking for. That can based on a number of factors (Maybe your offer doesn't convert, maybe the list isn't interested in your front-end, maybe they don't buy inexpensive products, etc...)

I suggest that whenever you run an ad you should track the ROI on a 30-90 day basis and that time period you want to do a few things:

1.) Have a follow-up sequence that goes out to the non-buyers
2.) Offer something for "sale" inside of those 30-90 days...
3.) Offer something that is premium prices inside of those 30-90 days...
4.) Make additional offers to your customers on the back-end

If you do those things, you'll dramatically see an increase in the ROI you get from Solo Ads...

I almost forgot: You MUST have a complete Sales Funnel in place BEFORE you ever start to worry about traffic. Having a solid funnel can be the difference in turning a crappy ad into a homerun.

  • I've had a lot of experience with solo ads, and I've also bought into many scams. It's better just to deal with business people you trust and share the same values with. If you both say share a common vision or goal of making the world a better place you will never get scammed.

In buying solo ads... you should be clear on your objectives. Are you going for the optins or the sales? It's difficult (challenging) to ask for the sale immediately, unless you have a solid funnel.

You have to know your metrics in every step in the funnel. If you don't, then you are shooting in the dark and setting yourself up for failure.

If you go for the optin, then have a solid follow-up email series that nurtures your leads and provides them with clear calls to action to buy your product / service.

All of this takes work, but if you set it up like a machine, then it can produce for you like an automated sales machine.

    Sales copy? Hook? Offer? Price?

All have impacts based upon your sales.

Yeah that's true as is part of the entire 'solo ad game'...

You just simply need to adjust / adapt.

Hey there, you will find that a funnel is very important if you are looking to use solo ads for your business. Might want to do a little more research on funnels + solo ads

i know; i love when some vendors claim their offer converts at 7%. which means you should sell 7 out of 100 people. but that never happens and then they say well, it depends on the traffic. there were times when i paid $1 per lead for the best solo ads and still no conversion. so, it is all playing around to find right offers

If the conversion to your squeeze was good but you did not make any sales it mostly comes down to these 2 reasons.

    - The solo ad was from a list of freebie seekers
    - Your paid offer was crap

    Cheers,
