I am completely new to affiliate marketing. Not asking for your secrets but maybe a little guidance as far as where to start with this journey. I am in nursing school and on a hiatus so I figured this would be a great way to make some money. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I worked for 5 years in retail so I do know a little about marketing. I've looked a little into TrafficJunky but do not understand all aspects of it quite yet.

Thanks so much,

Hey. Good job on taking the 1st step to success. Asking for help is always the best idea when starting out & be sure to research any topics you need to know on here. Next you need to come up with a game plan for the new year. I would recommend getting a website & autoresponder to begin with & figure out what products you would like to sell. Making money online is not a get rich quick kind of thing but with hard work & dedication you could be making more than you do working this time next year

The first thing I would do is to begin to develop a skill that will be an asset to your business.
I'd spend some time to learn some basic copywriting skills, and at least ONE proven and time-tested way to generate leads for your business.

Once you do that, you'l be able to generate leads and effectively communicate with them to sale anything you want.

Start thinking about different problems people have and something that you have some passion for and knowledge about.

Start researching the basics that you will need to start promoting a particular Product that people need and will buy.

Here is basic tools you will need :
      1. Webhosting for Squeeze Page - $10 month
      2. Autoresponder Service to email your prospects - $20 month
      3. Domain - $10 year
      4. Develop a Free Gift to give away to start building a List - Pay someone or just develop it yourself

The first step is coming up with something you're passionate about. Take your time with this.

Next, you need to determine if there's a market for what you're interested in. Type your search terms into Google and see if there are ads related to what you type in.

If so, there's a good chance there's a market for it. You can also check Amazon for related products as well.

Now do some research to find out what type of issues your market has. What problems do they face? How can you make their lives easier?

You can do this by reading forums and/or browsing Q and A sites like Yahoo Answers. You'll start to notice patterns.

Once you identify this it's time to set up a blog or web site and provide solutions to the concerns of your target market. Start networking with others in your niche.

Once you start gaining some traction and getting some visitors you can then start introducing products to help them. The more you are willing to help the more money you will make.

You should also build an email list from day one. This will create traffic on demand (whenever you have something to share) and will help with repeat exposure and relationship building.

There is more to it than this but that's the basic framework you should follow. Just be patient and view it as a marathon, not a sprint.

This is sage advice. But remember the best laid plans still need to be executed. Work at it daily/weekly.

What I suggest is that you find somebody that you feel you can relate to and understand. Somebody that actually teaches and show you a step by step guide that will help you build a REAL business online. Don't fall for get rich quick, or don't jump around from one "Shiny Object" to the next! You should stay laser focused and take action from what you learn everyday. A mentor is always good to show you the ropes that way you won't have to learn things the hard way. Take time to get a real education online first, than from their take consistent action every single day. Don't get discouraged because it takes time to build an empire, be encouraged from lessons learned, and you moving forward each and everyday. Look into building a long term business that pays you consistently month after month, study your niche well, and always provide value above all else!

some great places to learn about aff marketing are right here on this forum, on other IM forums, or even platforms such as wealthy affiliate which is great at teaching you the steps at affiliate marketing, however, these platforms usually require monthly fees..

I'd recommend joining wealthy affiliate as a free member where you can learn the basics, and then decide where you want to go from there

You can also check out Affilorama and join for free first. There're plenty of information there that can help you understand the basics.
