How Much Would you Pay for a High Quality Article?

Hello Warriors,

In the last few weeks, I have come across several posts where I found buyers complaining about freelance writers. There's a problem either with their quality or with their communication etc.

In that regards, I would like to know when you hire a ghostwriter to write articles for you, what kind of article do you expect him or her to provide you? What according to you is really a high quality article and how much would you be willing to pay for the kind of article you're looking for?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Poppy

I'd say at the very least, expect to pay $10 for a decent article, and most decent writers who know their worth will charge at least $15.

(The exception here being very new and not-quite-confident newbies. I know of people who've sold articles for $5/per before--but not for long, if they were any good.)

I started out selling content for $.02/word, which means my 500-word articles were ten bucks. And now that I'm writing higher-end stuff (reports and press releases), as well as doing affiliate marketing and creating my own products, I understand why:

Good content is worth a lot more than you pay for it, if you know what you're doing. I'm going to eventually have to outsource someone to write content for me and $15 is not too much to pay for quality work.

it really depends. A press release might have another style as an article for EZA...and an article for EZA might look different than something i want to put on my site(s).

"Quality" for me is to adhere and know 100% about ezines guidelines and standards, as well as 100% perfect english and grammar.

You know, i am NOT a native english speaker either, but i know how to write an article. I see people offering "article writing" where i can just shake with my head because the articles are utterly horrible.

I also know that some people think $10 is cheap, but thats my personal "upper limit" for a single 400-500 word article. I have sources which write quality for $3.70 (300-350 words)...but they are VERY hard to find. The rates i have from comparing and seeing what writers charge on other webmaster forums.

There are even people who write for less than that...eg $2/300-400 words....but usually.."you get what you pay". On those forums, usually 100 words==$1

I entirely agree with you George. It's very difficult to find the right writers at a low cost but not something impossible to find.
Recently I tried a new warrior who charges pretty low but his customer service and quality is top notch.

Thanks for your input Brad. Highly appreciated.

Based on personal experience, what's the biggest different you've noticed between a $5 writer and $10 writer?

    Poppy,

you cant generalize that, each writer is different. The $$ does not guarantee a good article. You have to try them and see whether they deliver.

Yes, I do understand that. But what I wanted to point out is just because a writer charges low, he/she should not be dismissed as a bad service provider. There are some good ones too

You have to look at what it is you expect to get out of the article.

If it's simply for the purpose of getting a backlink from an article directory
to one of your sites, it makes no sense to pay even $10 for a 500 word
      article.

But if I knew that one well written article in a carefully selected niche would
bring me $3,000 in sales, hell, I'd spend $200 for that article if I had to.

You have to look at your expected return from the article or you can go
      broke very fast.

Honestly, I've had decent luck recently paying about 5-7 bucks per article. There is a writer named Anuj Jai that I found in the providers section here. He gave me a review copy at 3.50 and it was great. His normal rate is 7 bucks and slowly goes down based on quantity.

Here's a short list of a great article author...

    1. Useful content when they send it to me.
    2. Responsive
    3. Clear and concise
    4. Follows deadlines as agreed upon

These are all I ask and I'd be willing to pay very well along with training and providing testimonials to a great provider.

    Cheers,

    Brad Spencer
