don't own a website or blog

Now I understand you need one or the other to promote as an affiliate. Without having to build it or make it from scratch, where could one acquire a premade site or blog to start promoting affiliate stuff? thanks

Not necessarily: I've seen people do affiliate marketing successfully with neither.

You'd need to be good at email marketing, and have a realistic plan for driving targeted traffic to a squeeze page. (But you need those two skills anyway, even if you also have a site/blog, to make anything worth talking about, out of affiliate marketing?).

    It's certainly not impossible.

For me, it doesn't matter. You can "build it from scratch" in about an hour or two. And just add bits of content to it as you go?

Very, very few people here are more technophobic or incompetent with techie stuff than I am, but even I can throw up a plain, clean, simple little site with 2-3 pages and a prominently incentivized opt-in pretty quickly. And that's all you need.

You can buy ready-made sites (including right here) for prices from about $17 (maybe even less, these days?), if you really want to. Some are very nice. But they tend to look a bit too "marketing-oriented" for many people's tastes (including many potential customers!). And they tend not normally to be designed around the prominently incentivized opt-in which ought to be the first and foremost purpose of such a site, really.

But whatever you do, I'd suggest that you stay away from "Blogger", for all the reasons explained at such length and in such detail in this thread.

I use blogger. I don't know much about html and it's really easy to use and you can use affiliates with it.

As Ginene mentioned, you could use blogger.

        Or

        Use Wordpress:
        1. Register a domain name with godaddy
        2. Get the cheapest hosting plan available
        3. Download and install Wordpress for free
        4. Get an awesome free Wordpress theme.

You will still need to work on the theme to make it look like you want but at least it wont be from scratch.

Another option which I did as well is to purchase a very inexpensive affiliate friendly website package. You would still need to get a domain name and hosting. Once you have the domain and hosting you could use a simple html editor to make simple changes. I got one of these packages from this forum.

You can buy pre-made sales funnels you just upload, do some editing and drive traffic. They are complete with freebie and product. You can build a list and sell some of your own products. Follow up with related affiliate offers.

It's easy enough to put up a basic squeeze page or website on almost any free or paid website host. The most important thing you will do as an affiliate is build your list, so you should focus your efforts around this activity.

      A blog is a website.

If you really want to be in the game, it is important to have a website that you own and control. there are lots of ways to get free website, but they most often come with conditions that if you break them, your website is going to be terminated.

Get a domain from NameCheap or GoDaddy, some hosting that isn't in either of those places, use the semi-automatic install function of Fantastico or Softaculous to install a WordPress blog. Choose the default template and make your first post online saying how great it is to finally be online with your own site.

Start to finish - about 30 minutes. Tech expertise needed - about a 3 out of 10 on the tech scale. It is more difficult to create a document in a word processing program than it is to set up a beginning website.

Once you have one, you can always edit it to change the look, the hosting, the content, the addons, but in order to do that you need a site to begin with.

And this being the new Year and all is the perfect time to begin. :-)

There are already some good answers in this thread for you...so, whatever you decide, if you intend to be an affiliate marketer, or any other kind of online marketer, do not ignore the one critical must-have: a LIST. Start building that from day 1.

If you just want to capture leads, you can use leadpages. It's like 20 bucks a month but the pages convert and mobile ready! They have premade templates for you and it's easy to integrate with your autoresponder.

I have more than 50 blogger blogs promoting affiliate products so it's not necessary to own a blog or website. But having your own blog or website would go a long way in building your reputation or if you are promoting your own brand name and have others promoting your products in the future.

And, I could not agree with you more about needing a list, first and foremost. Whatever you choose to use for your main site, whether a premade web 2.0 blog; free hosting site or paid hosting, the key thing you need is a list. That means you have to get autoresponder or email hosting. There are some free options available but limited benefits and limitations on using affiliate links in the emails. That's why paid email hosting and autoresponders are best.

Are you sure it's a good idea to use Blogger blogs to promote your affiliate products?

You can read about why you should rethink your choice to use Blogger for affiliate programs, here, here and here.

Are you looking to build a product or a business?

If the answer is "a business" then you need a website (blog).

When you have your own website, you can actually put there multiple programs and you can build your list from there.

When you have multiple affiliate programs on your site, it allows you to earn from all of them and sometimes, one visitor can join 2 or more of the programs at the same time. This will earn you more money.

In the long run you will need your own site.

But if you are new and want to start making money Now

    Before:

    1- Learning Ad Copy
    2- Learning Sales Psychology
    3- Learning Traffic Generation Strategies
4- Learning how to build a list
5- Learning how to write 'responsive' autoresponder messages
6- Learning how to 'convert' that list

Yes these 6 things are very important but not necessary in the beginning. The way I figure is most new marketers will get overwhelmed and maybe even quit for a full year or two before coming back.

So while you are learning these 6 areas above, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't utilize a system (that offers 'targeted' traffic packs) that can allow you to 'Earn' while you learn.

Then yes there are systems that amateurs and pros alike can leverage online!

My sites are built with Blogger. People will tell you that if you use Blogger you'll eventually get banned by Google but I have all sorts of blogs on there for years and years and have had absolutely no problems.

You can buy a .com and GoDaddy will tell you exactly how to set it up, or they will actually go into Blogger and set it up for you.

Cheapest way to go in my opinion. I have taught 6th graders how to use Blogger, too. If you can use Microsoft Word you can use Blogger.

    I hope this helps!

Attraction marketing is good! Whatever your niche is! Focus on your target customers by sharing your product or services for free! Like seminars , demostrations etc... Blog would be best! Combining attraction marketing and blogging together.

Don't spam email people. Only market products to people on your existing email list. Create a Facebook page and post your affiliate link there thatcwY you don't need a blog or website.

In my opinion I think it would be better if you started from scratch and saw it as a learning curve.

    Learn and apply

You will learn so much if you create it yourself, after all if you are planning to be adding content to it on a consistent basis are you firstly knowledgeable on how to do that or are you a total newbie?

If you remain focused and take consistent action on a daily basis then you are sure to reach your goals and feel great pleasure when you do.

Also again in my opinion so don't take this the wrong way. I see too many people focusing on making money which is great but your first focus should be on how you can help your prospect.

How are you going to provide value?
How are you going to follow up with your visitors?
How do you differ from everyone else promoting the same product?

Remember focus on helping your prospects/visitors, they wont really know who you are when they visit your website so you should be trying your hardest to figure out why they should be listening to you and what you can offer then.

You can get premade sites all over the place. Honestly you would have to do alot of maintenance and uploading and etc with a site that you handle yourself. Since you seem new, i would go with Wordpress where everything is cut and dry. This *kinda* takes care of both of the site/blog aspect you were wondering about. But don't do Blogger. Get something you OWN - instead of being at the mercy of Google.

An easy way would be to install Wordpress and just write a few posts. Wordpress does the majority of the work and it's easy to make it look pretty with Wordpress themes
