Buying and selling email address

Hi all,

I saw many people buying email address..
I am thinking if it is legal to buy and sell email address?

Similar to swap email address.. Like solo ads, how does it work? Is it legal?

Hope to get your advise.

I do not think so it is legal.

Solo ads is totally legit way of traffic but buying some one total email list or even selling is not looks legit. You can not even import email list to aweber .

Pretty much. Just avoid doing it or dealing with those that do at all costs.

They would become useless emails if 100 people are emailing them constantly...

When it comes to buying email list, there is one phrase that comes to mind....
      "DON'T DO IT"!

You will regret it. You can face something as small of the inconvenience of loosing your AR account and or domain to things more severe such as hefty fines and/or jail times.

Those people on that list did not opt in to your list and so when you send to them, they are going to say that you are spamming them, since they will have no idea who you are. Don't risk it my friend. There are many other ways to build a profitable list that are no risk and cheap.

One last note, it that list you want to buy is so good and worth buying, then why in the world are they willing to part with such a valuable list at such a cheap price.

It's legal to buy email leads. There are many lead vendors who have been selling leads for the past 14 years and they are still around.

If it was illegal the federal trades commission would have shut them down a long time ago.

However, they are not worth the money. You would be better off generating your own leads.

And even if you do generate your own 'opt in' leads, some of them will still claim you are spamming them. People are people.

It depends on the use you apply to those emails.
If you use them to grow your linkedin network, or pay for targeted ads, I dont think thats illegal. But if you use them to send massive spam, then thats terrible.

    Hi Tan Shengg,

i would avoid buying email addresses or email lists as well rather i wouldn't buy solo ads or something similar stuff.

In my experiences solo ads, clickbanking and adswaps won't work for the IM Niche - they only work for me by promoting Biz Opp offers

Instead i would build my own list by using Banner Ads, Ebook sharing, Facebook Ads, Google Adwords, Bing Ads etc.

That's the only way to make sure you subscribers are quality leads..

    Have a nice day

Presumably, you would be buying someone else's email address to obtain access to their contact list. If that's the situation, you still would not have legal permission to mail those people as you would be misrepresenting your identity. The person who added those contacts to start with, likely had some existing relationship or connection and could mail those people on a whim with no legal issues. You should just get your own email leads via opt in.

Just curious to see where the 'Cheerleaders' are who always talk about your List being a ' real asset' that can be assigned a monetary value and sold to someone in the future ?

Just say NO! (To the thought of purchasing email addresses)

Put yourself in the place of those who's addresses are on the list. Do you want to receive tons of spam from random people who are phishing for your bank accounts, personal information, or trying to mess up your computer with malware, spyware, or viruses?

Buying email addresses is not a way to make money.

I don't think it would be legal to buy or sell emails... since they're not yours to begin with.
