Okay, I have an ebook all planned out. I have a few questions though.
I hope you all can help.

1. To what degree will a free ebook on my site help my overall marketing
strategy? How do you know?

2. How in the heck to I put it together? Software???

3. Can anyone direct me to some examples of high quality ebooks
so that I can develop a point of reference.

Thank you very much.

    Hi Stuart

are you following someone's ebook model?

if you are doing a free ebook, that is generally to build a list. the only way to find out how it helps you is to test.

ebooks are normally done in PDF.

if you want to check out a few ebooks, i would suggest looking on clickbank

    Stuart,

Yes, you can make a pdf from Word with a plugin that comes from Microsoft. You can also make a pdf from Open Office - a free Microsoft Office look-alike. I also use Adobe InDesign to make pdf ebooks.

The money is in selling additional products to a list, and yes, you would use your ebook (pdf) as free bate to have people give your their email address.

    But...

This assumes you have the copywriting ability to write a squeeze page (optin page) compelling enough so readers will want to optin.

Next it also asumes you can write well enough to make your ebook so compelling that readers will want more from you. (There are professional writers here on the WF who can do that for you. The good ones charge a higher rate.)

Some 25 years ago I received a good lesson about how to make a written piece more interesting. I had purchased a set of audio tapes (remember cassettes?) about business.

The set was called "Kop's Keys" because Kop was the author's nickname, and the script was read by a top notch voice-over fellow named Ty Boyd. The way the script was written was sooooo boring that even Boyd couldn't save it.

The concepts in the set of 12 tapes were excellent, valid business ideas, but the tapes just never could hold my interest. I found this surprising because other tape sets I had purchased from this tape publisher were so much more interesting by comparison, and I had expected this to be likewise. So I set out to analyze why Kop's Keys was a boring set while other courses were much better at holding my attention.

Kop did not tell any stories to illustrate the points he made! All of the intersting courses told compelling stories for each concept being taught. This boring course had no stories.

I wrote this here in the post because it is a story.

I sent you a PM with a link to a site that uses a story in the optin page.
