Is it true that US TV Stations converted from Analog to Digital Signals Already?

I was reviewing a product that was on a top 100 of a products site. It was a digital to analog signal converter..

At first I thought it strange..from digital to analog..that's like downgrading right?

I continued to read the article and it says there that the entire US converted all its TV stations to broadcast digital signals.

This was supposedly the reason why the converter was selling much..

Any US warriors to verify this?

    It's not suppose to switch over until 07 -18 -09 from my understanding . I am on digital cable and wouldn't notice the difference

    The cutoff was originally scheduled for February but was postponed to June 12.

    The last I knew there are still people without the converters. The converters are available in every store around here for about $40 to $60.

    Every household qualified for up to two (2) $40 vouchers for a DTV converter, but like me, some didn't get a chance to use them. Either way, the venders of said converters get this voucher money, or regular money. So, this is a good thing if you want to get on the bandwagon.

    As long as you subscribe to cable or have satellite, like directtv, you don't have anything to worry about. Those that are buying those converter boxes are people who get the basic free channels.

    Yes these converter boxes are made for tvs that are receiving their signal from an antenna. If you have a tv that does not have the NTSC tuner built in and you do not have cable or satelite then you would need to get the converter box and an antenna if you do not already have one. A lot of people are under the impression that you won't need an antenna if you have the converter box but you will need both.
