Amazon Associates - Can you help?

Hey Warriors.

Happy new year to you all!

I'm building 2 Amazon affiliate stores - one by myself and and I've partnered with someone else for the other.

Now, I want to use the same associates account while keeping the earnings from the 2 sites separate.

Can this be done?

If so, how?

Or, will I need to create another account?

Many thanks

Ben

You can just create a separate tracking ID for each Amazon store. As this video guide explains.

      OK thanks.

So in terms of the Access Key and Secret Access key, they can be the same on both websites?

      Thanks again,

      Ben

Yes they can be the same, because they are just for the Amazon API.

All of the advice above is accurate. But if it were me, I'd want completely separate accounts for a variety of reasons:
          1. Security: Do you really want your partner's name on the account for the store you've done yourself?
          2. Privacy: Do you really want your partner to have access to that other store's data?
          3. Administrative: The data you see in the affiliate reports do change as, for instance, items are returned. It could be a real headache to try to figure out how much of the payment should go to whom.
          4. Taxes: You'll have a similar problem as above when it's tax time; not only that but your reporting will likely be messed up since it'll all be in just one name.
          5. Legal: What happens if one or the other site gets sued? Will having the accounts linked put you at greater risk? This is really a question for a lawyer, but it seems to me your legal situation wouldn't be hurt by having your accounts separate.
          6. Exit: What happens if one site succeeds and the other fails? Or what happens if you want to sell off one or the other of these sites?

On the other hand, using the same account has the advantage of:
          1. Ease: You only need one account to log in, manage and be able to see all your data.
But really that's the only advantage I can think of. Given that, I know what I'd do...
