Really try to search and investigate for top notch info. and ideas that no one else is giving.

In other wards, advice that within your Niche people typically have to pay for.

A good way to go about this is to buy some high quality Products within your Niche and read and study them and then put some of those new methods you learned onto your Blog.

Of course, do not reveal everything but enough to give them a good taste and want more.
Hint : Then you can be an Affiliate with that Product you bought and dispersed limited info.and Offer the whole thing to them

      Here's 3 Guaranteed Ways.

      Caution:
These tips are not for wimps, wussies or sissies!
      • Do something most or all blog publishers hate to do.
      • Help your target market eliminate a specific problem others charge for.
      • Give fanatical "extra mile' service. The kind that would make other blog publishers knees shake, bottom lip quiver or even quit, if they had to do it.

This is something of a "crazy" idea however I thought I would post it anyway.

In order for this idea to work well, you need to be an authority. Not a gimmick type authority, but a person who has knowledge in the ins and outs of your field.

A 365 day journey through something is useful to people if you already have done this and the outcome is that you are successful in a way that other people can see themselves replicating.

A year is a long time online and if you are doing this in real time, some of the things you began with might not be working by the end of the year. Actually, that is pretty good bet, especially if you are using any kind of social media component.

Overall though, people will need to like you and respect you in order to follow you. And that means you need to present yourself as your true self. That is what people are going to respond to and keep on reading.

I don't understand this. Or perhaps I made the wrong assumption about the purpose of a blog in IM. I assumed that the purpose was to make money by selling products that brought success.

But there is no way to tell if they were successful until after they were successful in this very particular set of circumstances. Many times, at least in my experience, the result is not repeatable in a way that is useful for the reader. And takes some tweaking until it works.

But perhaps the OP's original intent was to create a community of people in the same place on the journey and I misunderstood that.

Sure. Maybe you're right. I guess you'll have to ask IMToThePoint.

I disagree that I need to be an authority in order to make this a success. There are many people out there who are not an authority when starting out, for example I can name a well known 'Gadget' blog out there that makes a ton of money from being an affiliate to a variety of gadgets and he only likes gadgets that's how he got started.

What my intentions are to put different marketing strategies to the test on different things and then simply report back my results on what worked and what didn't in a series of different posts that will hopefully help others aswell.

So lets say that I have purchased a WSO for example and put it to the test, I will write a post basically about how I did this and how I did that and what happened.

        Hope this clears things up.

          Two different issues...

First one: Generally speaking, in order for an audience to pay attention to you, instead of ten million others, you really do need to at least be perceived as an authority.
Really...if you aren't at least perceived as an authority, why do you think people will listen to you?

If that 'Gadget Blog' guy is making a ton of money without being an authority (your words), why don't you just do what he did??
You'll be rich in no time.

Second issue: If you intend to try 'different things', like various WSOs, and 'put them to the test', and then tell people whether or not it 'worked'....you had better make sure that you actually follow every single one, 'to the letter'...and give every one a complete effort, before you condemn anything and tell others that something doesn't work, is a rip-off, is a scam, is a waste of time and money, etc. etc. etc.

I don't envy you. That will be a LOT of work, cost a LOT of money, and take a LOT of time.

Hopefully, along the way, you will keep in mind that the things that have value, and people are willing to pay you their hard-earned money for, are things that will help them get what they want.

So, if you do such reports, make sure that you can give a complete and honest evaluation, or don't do it at all.

Sorry if this seems harsh, but it sounds like you need a better game-plan. And coaching.

Your audience needs to feel your sincerity through your posts. That is what ultimately makes a connection.

As already mentioned, be real with people. There are always a certain group of people that will connect with you.

At the same time you need to not only be educational but entertaining. It's a hard balance to strike, I know.

I am trying to loosen up a little myself and find my groove instead of just hitting people up with facts. That can get a little boring after awhile.

The good bloggers can make you feel like you already know them when you never met them before in your life. They do this through sharing personal stories and by using videos and pictures of themselves.

In other words...branding. A lot of marketers are afraid to put themselves out there. The more people feel comfortable with you, the more likely they are to buy.

And last but not least, remain consistent. Write when you feel like writing and write when you don't feel like writing.

It takes time before you hit the tipping point and start seeing success. And this is where a lot of new bloggers quit.

Sad to say, but some might be quitting right before they see success. Going the extra mile when others don't can make a huge difference.

Even if someone is a better writer than you, it doesn't matter if they aren't consistent. And this is where you can get your edge.

As long as you give 100%, you can live with the outcome no matter what happens. More often than not, you'll start building an audience

Be authentic, and post value. You have the right idea. Keep an eye out for products in your niche, which from what you have said is IM. If you continue buying products and applying them you will gain experience. Your experience will teach you something that was not offered in the product. Keep track of what other skills or processes were needed to help the product better. Maybe some ideas from another product, or discussion from a forum.

Innovation is what you will need. Create new ways of solving problems. Stay up to date on happenings. Research and find out original ways to solve the new problem. That might be a tough job though.
Or you can read on other people's solutions and try to make them better by research and adding your own extras.
    Good luck

We all are unique so by being yourself you will separate yourself from others. Identify your exact target audience that you want to deliver your message to and stay true to that form. Others will still find you as well, you will find that your customer base will be more loyal to you. On top of that you do not have to wreck your brain on worrying about to please everyone.

Lot of good ideas here. I have a idea to make my blog less cluttered with ads all over the place and use links instead if I think it will add value to the post.

I get too put off if I am on a blog reading aomething and see lots of banners

Want to stand out from the other bloggers?

Just be 'you' man and don't try to become some one else. That's what everyone else is trying to do and that's why everyone else is struggling.

Take baby steps but remain consistent every day. There is no short cut to success. Believe me I have looked for it and it doesn't exist.

Just keep on keeping on with your style of blogging, give value and keep 'expanding' on what's already working.

Forget about trying to compete with the big time bloggers in IM because they have worked for their success, now it's your turn!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9800359].message }}
  • First of all, do not believe the people that say that you should add internet marketing content such as "make money online with METHOD" etc. These are generic and people are doing this on a daily basis. You will not set yourself apart from the other internet marketers who are all doing the same thing.

The best thing you can do is simply offer value and information that no one else is offering. For example, do case studies. Matthew Woodward is famous for this especially with his SEO case studies using specific tools etc.

So find a way to make money and make a case study on how you did it step by step.

I think what you are looking for is known as a USP. Your unique selling proposition. What can you provide that other bloggers or few bloggers can/do provide?

Think of Jim Cramer on CNBC. There are thousands of people giving stock recommendations but he is the first person I think of because of the WAY he provides information. Bells, whistles, and antics.

The only way you will stand out in the crowd is to find your own authentic voice. That and be scrupulously honest in posting.

Don't try to fake authority, or only report what works. Report what doesn't work, and offer your own analysis/opinion on why. Avoid labelling things as scams, etc. Just the facts as you observe them. There's a big difference between "this is a scam" and "I followed the directions but..."
