Nizam has already highlighted some good suggestions. What is the course based on? Is it just going to be a course that they can purchase? Is it a course you want to consider implementing within your sales funnel, like some kind of bootcamp training? I personally like to incorporate my training on-site, but it depends on the purpose.

You could consider WordPress if you wanted to, then invest in a membership script like like OptimizePress to ensure paid members only content is available and so on.

    What format is your course?

    Is it interactive?

Does it have a large number of videos?

    Does it include a forum?

Do you have a sales funnel?

    etc, etc.

More details needed before anyone can give you a sensible suggestion.

Yes, it really depends on what you course is about. I just took on a student and helped him arrange his copy for Udemy.

He had 5-6 students the week after he published it.

Udemy will also market for you.

    Good Luck!

Udemy is good if you're not really very great at marketing your course. The sales funnel stuff that people are talking about is also a crucial point to consider. Purpose is great issue and suggestions could be more specific if you provide more details to us.

Udemy markets your course and share revenues with you. They have a huge hungry audience and a proven sales record that helps sell more.

You can consider going with Udemy for a starter.

    Good Luck.

Is it an ebook that you're selling? Do you want to make it similar to a slide show, or is it mostly audio and video? You're leaving out a few details here. Expand more so we can see what your objective and goals are. But if it's just an ebook.... turn it into a PDF, and upload to your site, and let folks download it from there when they buy.

I have not used Udemy myself yet but I have a good friend who does fairly well with it.I may try it myself to see how well their marketing community works.
I'm a big fan of Wordpress,I find it to be very versatile and very effective. Most people don't fully understand just how much you can really do with wp.
In the end,I guess it all boils down to personal preference and your style. We should all keep our options open.

OK, since we are on the topic, I just wanna ask -- would you prefer to sell your course on existing marketplace like Udemy, CourseCraft, etc ... or if you could, do you prefer to host your course yourself on your on server?

You can use plain old WordPress + TinyPass.

There may be others like TinyPass, idk.

It locks certain areas of your site down and requires the visitor to pay w/e amount you specify for access.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

If you're going to market it, do it on your own website because there will be fees... like with udemy you only get 50%

I've not used it myself, but I've heard good things about Moodle as a platform if you're going to host the course yourself. Lots of large corporations use it for in-house training.

Udemy and Skilled are good options, in my experience. In truth, my first decent money online was made via my first Udemy course, both through Udemy 'organic' sales and following a webinar presentation I made regarding the course. Keep in mind you can put it there, and sell it elsewhere.
