Need help on visitor conversion

Hi everyone,

I have the promise of some fairly heavy media exposure coming up in the UK soon and need some advice on visitor conversion.

I have developed a site here: The Life Raft and our main aim from the media coverage is to get as many people on our list as possible (obviously). We probably have one shot at this and I have spent a lot of money on it as it has been a long-planned project.

Can you let me know if you would sign up for the freebies on offer and if not why not (I know the market is very niche-specific but that aside, I'd like to know if you think the opt-ins are well structured or need changing - is the message clear enough?)

Many, many thanks in advance.

I'd sign up and not go to the event. Seems like there's enough free stuff there I wouldn't need to go.
Perhaps you should offer those incentives AFTER they've signed up and paid for the event.

You could offer just one teaser for getting an email address.

Looking at this through a lens of a copywriter this is what bothers me on your landing page:

You believe there is MORE to life than BROKEN SLEEP and being ON EDGE all the time

You believe we all have a place of CALM & JOY within us where we can be FREE from stress, anxiety, worry & turmoil

You’d like to learn how to access that place of STILLNESS

You’d like to be able to feel CONFIDENT, and RELAXED no matter what is going on in your life

Those just don't seem to be heavy motivators. I don't ever recall someone saying,"Gee, I'm just not feeling stillness today".

Something more like....." Does your boss, coworkers and others piss you off so bad your can't sleep at night? --- We'll teach you how to deal with it!"

Off the cuff of course, but you see what I mean.

Just a thought. Good luck on your event. Your site does look impressive

    God Bless,

    ELMO

No problem Rob, it was my pleasure. The best thing to do is test and test and test. Different copy, designs, etc.

Of course, I realize that your event is coming up soon, so it's too late to do that now. But there'll be more events in the future and you'll have a better strategy the next time you do something like this.

I do wish you well on this event, my friend

        God Bless!

Here's some things that i would do if it were my site:

    1) Get rid of the video (takes forever to load)
    2) And it's still trying to load

Do you have flash animation on your site? Must be my internet connection.

Okay they site is up. There's a big empty space at the top of the page. Fix that. I see the motivational stuff. Some times i feel that people will be 1 with themselves if they had a million dollars in their bank account. Would probably live with no spouse lol.

The site looks it has image problems/breaks in it. Just make it much simpler and sell it. You aren't showing people anything they haven't seen before. And where's a location on your site where people can enter their email details?

Hi Randall, thanks for the effort/comments - I do appreciate it. But I think the site issues you've mentioned MAY be at your end (not definite because not many people have seen it yet so I can't say for sure). The video is an issue - it takes about 2-3 seconds to load but not sure which image breaks or white space you're referring to. We opted for 'click here' to the opt-in box rather than having opt-in straight away - I have found with my other business that the opt-in box was putting them off.
    Thanks again though.

Here's the thing, instead of asking people to sign up for the freebies or be part of your list, ask yourself first if you are a user, why would you sign up for such thing? What will make you interested on signing? What do you think as a prospect client are the benefits it can give you in the future?
You can ask yourself the same question, just put yourself into other people's shoes.

Thanks. Have done that - which is where the current copy came from and which is why I'm now asking what others think, to get feedback on it... ;-)
