I was curious as to how one goes about creating their own plr product.

In other words, I have an idea for a product that I want to let others have the right to re sell. How do I get that accomplished? Thanks for any help

  • You write it. You sell it. You provide a PLR license and tell the buyer, "You can do what you want with it."

Usually you provide a copy of the completed final product as well as the source files (MS Word, Camtasia video files, mp3s) so buyers can edit and republish.

You don't have to do anything special to make your product "PLR" other than tell the buyers they have PLR rights and what their rights and limitatons are.

This can be done with a simple text file included with your product.
  • After you create the product, you inform whoever is getting the product that they have private label rights.

Include a text file that explains exactly what they can and can't do with the product.

    That's it.
  • Ok so there are no legal technicalities like copyright needed?

    • Well, not if you wrote it and own the copyright.

Obviously, you can't take someone else's copyrighted work and turn it into PLR.

Nothing special needs to be done to have copyright protection. If you write and publish something then it is automatically copyright to you.

You don't have to take any specific action or have any legal declaration made to have copyright protection for your work.

    • In the US, when you produce it, you already own the copyright. You don't need to file anything with anyone. I am not a lawyer, but that is the rule.

As the producer you are free to give other people a subsidiary set of rights to whatever you have made. Private Label Rights are usually the most generous with the least amount of restrictions.

Some producers specifically exclude certain rights when they sell a PLR product. Sometimes, the buyer cannot claim copyright, sometimes the buyer cannot claim unless they edit the product until it bears no resemblance to the original. Sometimes the only proscription is that the the buyer cannot pass on PLR rights to their buyers.

It sounds complicated and like many legal things can be made so, but in essence, when you produce a work, or have one produced for you in a work for hire situation, you own all the rights and give away or sell whatever rights you want.

  • What most PLR products that I came across have a text with the PLR Rights and that's about it. You tell your customers who bought from you or anyone you give it to what they can and can't do with your PLR product.

So, you can basically go ahead create your product, put the PLR Rights file and you're ready to go!
  • Not really sure what the problem is? Just go ahead and do it :-) Do you talk about creating texts or do you want to e.g. sell a video course with PLR Rights? In any case - the best way is to just do it, slowly if you want to but steadily, just commit to one per day and go ahead. If you do the product first and start marketing then, it is more rewarding because you can already create sales :-)
