Has AM given you financial security?

Has Affiliate marketing given you financial security in terms of paying for or off your mortgage and given you sustainable income that has made all the effort worth it?

I've read about some people warning that you shouldn't rely on AM as any change from Google could cause a sudden drop in income as the number visitors to your sites could fall overnight. How do you deal with this fear and how likely are further panda style updates? You could potentially lose earnings after one new Google change. I've not even gotten into AM yet but this worries me.

To avoid this you do not rely on Google for your business. Your right you can get a Google slap and lose all your traffic.

Concentrate on building lists. No one can take that away and Google will have no effect on your income if they suddenly make a change, been there done that.

Financially secure? I have streams of income that have been working for many years and continue to do so.

Is a Job secure? No. You could get fired or the company shut down at any time.

For me the revenues I get from AM have gotten to a point where they cover most of my day to day expenses which is great. I do want to have it much higher of course so I can do things such as save up for more investments or other projects and budget for general upgrades in life.

My main issue is consistency. I do a good job of sending a lot of traffic to my site, I just have a hard time capturing them into a list. If I can do that I think I can improve my position a lot.

Don't focus all your effort into SEO for google. Instead get traffic through PPC, writing articles and youtube videos. Work on building an email list like others have said.

If you are relying on Google for your sole source of traffic, you could be out of business overnight.

I don’t understand questions about how much WF member make or how much you can make doing this or that.

If a member did tell you that they were making million or the paid off their car with affiliate marketing, I don’t see how the answer would help you in your endeavors.

Concentrate on creating a great site that provides value to your readers and the money will come.

This is really important. If the site you have really does make someone better off then if they had just gone to Amazon directly you will be amazed at the kind of conversion rates you will get.

Case in point, the niche my site uses lends itself to be useful for those looking for gifts. So during the holiday season I was making sales left and right. Now that the season is over, things have slowed down quite a bit. Just goes to show how the sift in your usefulness as well can have big affects on your income.

You've started several threads recently on "getting started" and every one of those threads seems to be about worries/fears .. "what scares me".

You need to stop and seriously think about what it is you are so afraid of. I think there's a good chance you are using 'fear' to avoid trying anything.

Common sense can keep you from spending more than you can afford - there's plenty of free info on this forum to help you start almost any IM endeavor you choose. IM won't physically hurt you and if you don't succeed you won't be any worse off than you are now, will you?

One thing is certain - you can't earn money online until you have "buy buttons" or links for people to click. You can't create anything online until you create a PRESENCE online with blog/site, etc.

There are no guarantees - and, yes, if the search engines change, you have to adapt. Welcome to business in the real world. Your choice is whether to dig in and start working or sit back and be afraid to try. Jump in and give it a chance!

Yes - all of that, and more.

It's the word "as" that's the problem, there.

The second half of the sentence (after the word "as") is completely true, but that isn't a reason for not relying on affiliate marketing, at all: it's just a reason for not relying on SEO for your traffic. But since search-engine traffic happens to be about the worst and least responsive and least profitable you can get, for most affiliate marketing purposes, that's not much of a restriction anyway: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8659398

It isn't a fear, for anyone who has a sensible traffic-generation plan.

Very likely indeed: Google is publicly committed to them, and has said so unambiguously and repeatedly. But none of this is relevant.

If you were intending to rely on Google for your primary traffic, then I suppose you're right to let it worry you. However, I suggest that you learn and use other, non-SEO-based traffic-generation methods instead, and more or less forget about Google: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ffic-tips.html

your income can be very hit and miss as an affiliate marketer until you have 10+ functioning sites.. It would be best not to have your mortgage payments depending on that!

Once you get a grasp of what affiliate marketing is, then you can use it for stable income. Multiple income streams is the best way to go about things.

AM is basically all about sending traffic to someone's sales page, and making commission. Once you get more advanced, you learn tricks and tips to warm that traffic up a bit.

    Hi!

Financial security is an internal thing, a feeling, a belief.

I felt wealthy and free for a while which inspired me to move into wealthy and freeing actions - blogging, freelance writing, blog coaching, affiliate marketing, eBook selling, paperback selling, sponsored posts, joint partnerships, etc, etc - and these actions helped me create wealth.

The wealth I created has helped me blog from paradise for the past 45 months straight. I travel the world helping bloggers to retire to a life of island hopping through smart blogging. Because I worked on my inner world, reduced my fear of failing, fell more in love with being free and naturally, I've experienced a neat life.

Keep doing your mental homework and you'll diversify income streams, based on doing the 1 thing you love doing most. For me that was writing, which led to the income streams mentioned above.

    All the best!

I think the goals of paying off your mortgage and a "sustainable" income stream are great and most people aspire to those, even through 40 years on a job.

What affiliate marketing does is let you build streams of income. But you start with making the first $1, tweak, test, learn, and try. The risk is all on you, yes, but no more so than starting any other type of financial endeavor. Keep your costs low, tweak until you make consistent profits, reinvest what you earn - those will all go toward improving your quality of life. You can take steps to improve every day, or you can keep getting further behind.

Initially yes, but there will come a time, if you're able to make it happen, that you will have a choice to keep working at your job and keep the supplemental income or stop working because your business has been able to support you as if you had nothing else for at least 3-6 months and quitting or getting yourself fired (as in my case) will give you the time and energy you need to take it to the next level and much more than pay your bills.

You couldn't pay me to go back to work anywhere or for anyone, even though the only work I did was for an internet marketer from 2006-mid 2013.

As Kay King said above, you have a 'problem' with 'mindset'. Stop looking for possible problems and focus more on solutions. Get out of the negative mindset.

What if Google changes? This company changes their minds more than they change their underwear. At least I hope they change their underwear lol.

Google is 'over' rated in my opinion. Have you seen adsense ads lately?

You can have a website about the Easter Bunny and ole G is showing ads about the 'big bad wolf'. This is not relevant.

Bing is more relevant than Google now but we are all brain washed for years to 'Google' everything.

Don't depend on Google for traffic.
