How Long Does it Take You to Find a Product on Clickbank to Promote?

I don't promote on Clickbank. I found it hard to find products of value there. I am sure they have good products but it wasn't for me. I can't sell something I don't already own.

If you do decide to sell a product on CB, make sure that you believe in it 'enough' to resell it to others. This means to purchase the product for yourself before selling it to others.

You don't want to sell a product just to make money.

You first need to be a product of the product (so to speak) before you can 'see' the value
'in' it for your self. Then you can successfully sell it to others because of your 'perceived' value.

They can convert very well for people with the right marketing skills and traffic. They're like almost all other ClickBank products: different affiliates' conversion-rates vary hugely.

More than just "hours", usually. It's very time-consuming indeed, but one of the essential components which one assembles together into the difference between making a living and not making a living.

Altogether, I've probably spent about 800 hours scouring ClickBank's marketplace for potential products to promote as an affiliate. Nowadays, one of my VA's does the early stages of that work for me, by constantly researching for things which superficially meet my acceptability criteria, and sends me short-lists of things to look at myself. However you look at it, it's a big job and (as is so often the case) the real money's being made by the people who take it seriously and don't try a "shortcut/hope-for-the-best" approach.

Neither do I, from ClickBank. Fortunately, it's generally very easy either to get "review copies" or just to buy the occasional things through your own hoplink, for assessment purposes.

  As the saying goes, "It only happens all the time".
  
  Unfortunately they may have no way of contacting some/many of their affiliates. Affiliates on ClickBank are entitled to their anonymity - if they choose - even to the product's vendor. (Unless the vendor elects to whitelist all affiliates. But almost nobody does that.)

  I usually sign up to their lists so that 1. I could be informed by the vendor of changes, special promos etc. and 2. Ideas for "good" copy.

  Yes, so do I. But many don't. I take your point that they could try to notify the affiliates whose email addresses they have, that the sales page has changed. They very, very rarely do, though. (I've been notified occasionally of price changes, though.)

  You forgot "dumb". It's funny how these vendors daydream about making fortunes, but treat the people who are supposed to bring them this wealth like poop.
  
  It's even funnier when they rationalize their strategy by calling it a "marketing tactic that increases ROI", but when big companies try to squeeze money off of them, they get upset. I'm telling you, their IQ is lower than my shoe size.

  Yes you are right. But this vendor is weary from the beginning. They created a separate URL for affiliates to promote.
  
  It's not a bad idea come to think of it. This way they dont need to compete with affiliates on adwords etc. Also if an affiliate screws up it wont take down their original link and site with them. The affiliate site will get penalized but not the actual site.

  Nothing wrong, in principle, with their having two different sales pages for the same product. (Some vendors do this so they can have an opt-in on the sales page but still provide another sales page without it, for the "more serious" affiliates who won't touch the leaky one).

Nowadays I rarely promote a ton of different products. In most cases you want to follow a simple principle:

Learn it
Do It
Teach It

So what I mean by this is that, it's going to take more than just "finding" a product. I work more closely with my list, so I'll buy something before ever recommending.

As You're asking "how long" I mean... you want to be diving deeper and possibly sending out an email to your list and asking them if they wanted something that solved one or multiple solutions what would it be? Then see whether that product solves that.

Then you can do some kind of email, prove that you've purchased it and it solved their questions. You'll get the odd few buyers anyway, but if you can provide that you've purchased it and it does do everything you asked them about, then chances are, sales will be higher and you're authority will go up for sure.

Same as above really. If it meets the requirements of what my subscribers need or could make their life easier, then I'll dig around more, speak to the developers. Get hold of it, review it and possible get some results with it beforehand and then promote it afterwards.

To effectively sell a product from Clickbank it should be a subject you have an interest in because writing about it will be easier. Pick a subject you are interested in and search Clickbank for that subject and then you might bring results down from 10,000 to 60 or 20, making it easier to find a product.

I hear what your saying. Drill down to the niche and then sort through the products. My issue is that I cant decide on what niche to focus on. I have a few that I find interesting and then I am stuck with hundreds if not thousands to go through.

That's because you're looking for the wrong thing in the wrong place.

To discover a viable niche, stop hunting for products. Instead, look for consumer demand. What solutions are buyers looking for? What problems do they have? What desires might you fill with a paid product?

Your problem is that you are looking for products without knowing where there is demand and what that demand looks like.

Find demand first. Then it's easy to go to Clickbank (or other places) and search for exact products that will satisfy that demand.

Good suggestion and I was actually thinking about this before. I have a Parenting blog that is almost ten years old. I havent posted on the blog in a long while but it still gets hundred if not thousands of views a month.

I just dont know if Parenting related products on Clickbank convert very well if at all. Thats why I never even tried promoting products in that niche.

(I also created a make money online blog as well around the same time but thats a different story.)

Ok. Well we know that there is lots of demand in the Health and fitness niche primarily weightloss and we know there is tons of demand in the Work from home / Make money online niche. But with these two you still have tons and tons of products. I'm assuming you promote clickbank. How long does it take you to find a product you like once you have your niche figured out?

seriously, if you're spending more than 30 minutes trying to choose a niche, you're doing it wrong.

Look for what's hot. Look where people are spending the money. Look for something that solves a big problem. Look for a product that looks solid. Give it a go.

so many people get caught up on the sidelines trying to pick a perfect niche. It's a trap.
this happens because people are afraid. They are afraid to make a mistake. They are afraid to fail.

So as a result.. they do nothing.

I welcome failure. I'll test a niche. If it doesn't work out.. no big deal. I drink a redbull then test another niche the very next day.

I've a clickbank related question. or a complete newb question.

If I see a product I like, let's say for example "laptop repair courses" on clickbank. How would I promote it from nothing?
It seems an obvious question but what I mean is, assuming I have a domain name/hosting/tech skills, would be my best course of action?

Any help appreciated.

Promote something you know, like, and trust...

There are more places than CB...

If it has to be CB than ask for a review copy or buy a (full) product that interest you and see how it helps and then promote that one.

Then if it's a good product than buy other products from same author and promote those as well.

I'm wondering what then though, I could grab a domain tomorrow & have a site with forums setup the following day but I wouldn't know what to do then. I've plenty of time for this but I'm not an article writer so blogs are out.

Yeah, I was thinking that. I need to get the hang of it. I already found a few today that might be worthwhile. I will take some of the advice above and focus on a specific niche that I have interest in and look for related products instead of random products from different niches.
