hosting a viral content blog

hi warriors,

I want to create a blog for viral content and use facebook shares to drive traffic. if i am successful in building a brand and driving large amounts of traffic what do i need to be concerned with in terms of hosting? how can i ensure that i choose a hosting service that will handle large amounts of traffic should i be successful? the last think i want is to find out too late that my content is loading too slow or something like that.

thanks!!

Buy a premium theme that has a good degree of responsiveness. Host your images and videos on a CDN, use good SEO practices right from the beginning, don't buy crappy links from a forun run on XRumer or whatever has appeared to take its place.

Buy a big enough server that you won't get stuck right away. Stay off GoDaddy or any EID group hosting if you are using Wordpress. Answer your comments and post some of your blog posts manually onto your Facebook page and Twitter account.

That's a good start, if you begin with good practices, create a system that is solid right from the beginning, you won't have to worry about crashing or getting hammered in a Google update.

Find and use a local website designer & host that is usually pretty cheap after the website design cost.
much cheaper than godaddy e.t.c and does the same job if you get a good host/designer
Then use a content cache this will speed up your website considerably.

You say your going to build a blog right?

I wouldn't worry about it until you get the traffic... I would start small and scale up.

There is no way to estimate how much traffic your going to get until you get it.

I have a VPS server and I pay 50 bucks a month. I don't do a fraction of damage and really should be on a smaller program...

So if you just want to spend a bunch of money on having a VPS or Dedicated server every month, without know what your going to get as far as traffic then go for it.

The pro dedicated server will run you about 380 a month

If you start small you can always move up if needed

I do a lot of blogging myself. I started a new one about a year ago and now I'm posting to it regular basis. It is not my first one.

I'll tell you that you will do a lot of writing; a whole ton of it, as a matter of fact.

Unless the content is super high quality and a there's hyper-hungry audience for the info you're putting out, you're not going to go viral very fast. I'd get the cheapest HostGator account they have and launch a Wordpress blog from the control panel.

As Andre said above, if you actually get a ton of traffic, you can always scale up. As for hosting HostGator was top notch and great for anyone just starting out.

    Good luck and God Bless!
