Have you had success selling only 1 product?

Hey everyone,

i'm wondering if anyone here has ever built a site to sell only 1 physical product.

i know it is very common to build a site to sell a course or a digital product, but i want to sell only one physical product with perhaps some replacement parts.

has any one ever had success with this model?

also, any suggestions for a wordpress or shopify theme to sell only one product?

thanks!

    Generally speaking

If I'm going to build a niche site, I'll build one that I can use to promote at LEAST 2-3 products in.

I may do 5-10 articles that answer the questions people are searching for regarding that niche, then use the end of the article to recommend a specific product.

I'll ALSO do a full indepth review OF the product(s) themselves, and link internally to THAT page from my other articles in order to help rank it better.

    Anyways, hope this helps!

On ANOTHER note, this IS the formula that Google Sniper 3 teaches, for example, and it DOES work.

Just make sure you put time into QUALITY content that solves peoples problems, or at least answers a question. You can use that to gain their trust, show you're an authority and pre-sell the product you're recommending all at the same time.

Edit: SHOOT - disregard, you said PHYSICAL PRODUCT. My bad.

Going to leave this post up in the hopes it can help somebody else, but my bad - sorry for not reading your question thoroughly

When the PS3 and Xbox 360 came out, i put up a site to sell it. It was real simple, didn't really have to do any "hard selling". These are *literally* products that sells themselves. I mean you could list them on Ebay at a good price with NO sales copy and people would buy them.

    PROBLEM:

The folks on Alibaba was offering them for the same price that Walmart was lol.

I tried using dropshippers who claimed they had REAL "wholesale" prices. That was a damn lie. I coulda sold a $10 watch on ebay, and having it dropshipped would cost me $30 alone.

Anyway, the same way that sales copy is short and to the point on Ebay, is the same way that i had it on my site.

To get them to opt-in to my email newsletter, i created a free ebook on topics like "how to use the PS3", "new features of the PS3", "game code cheat sheets for popular PS3 games", etc (same for xbox 360).

Then of course once they subscribed, i built the relationship, and led them to my site - where they clicked on the order button, and it went to my sales page on Ebay. Wanted them to feel safe since it was thru Ebay.

It was easy, but the profits were ugly. I didn't have a supplier who had a real wholesale price. So i left that business and started doing something else.

If you have a product that is standalone, why not? Plenty of people do this. You do not need a complete store to sell something online or be successful. Then later you may want to expand to promote complimentary products, etc. The number of products you're selling is less important than how you sell your single product. Go for it.

      Hey tauket2,

If you are building a List it only makes sense to have MORE than one Product. Why even build a List?

And sense having a List is nearly mandatory anymore, I would think it would be foolhardy to sell only one product ever.

You are leaving money on the table.

    thanks for the replies everyone,

Randall Magwood, by linking to your ebay listing, weren't you scared that the potential buyers would end up browsing through ebay and ultimately buy from someone else?
