Who has been successful with eBooks?

I'm planning on launching my third blog soon, and wanted to know if writing an ebook would be good use of my time. The blog focuses on starting, designing, branding, and growing your blog. So I'm thinking of an ebook that would focus on how you can start making an income of your blog within the first year.

Has anybody had success with ebooks? How much have you made? What are your tips for selling the most possible?

Thanks in advance!

Are you planning on selling the ebook or giving it away as a lead magnet?

Either way, it will serve the purpose.

If you are selling on Amazon Kindle then you can get good success if you use a good cover, target the market correctly and good Book title.

I would say the best way for me has been to drive readers of the books to other higher priced products or coaching because that is where the bigger money is.

Sure if you are writing fiction and can get a following you can make good money on the front end but most who to or advice type books do better with including some special incentive for a buyer to visit you blog, get on your list and then you make money.

You can take advantage of groups of authors cross promoting, launching etc. These are usually formed inside private groups....isn't there a kindle section on the WF?

Most people promote heavily to their list to go and buy on a specific day and you can have free days to try and build momentum so you climb the ranking to be in the best seller of your niche. Then you get more sales.

Well, book's content can get stolen and rewritten. It's also really hard to sell, with zillions of other books out there on this topic. But, if you plan to distribute it freely as a part of your marketing efforts that lead to higher priced course, than it's a good way to go.

  • Yes, creating an eBook to help build an online following and using it to specifically build a list is the way to go. Don't give it away unless you're either getting money for it or you are getting their email addresses for a newsletter.

In terms of highest perceived value it goes: Software, Plugin, Video, Ebook, Report.

Depending on your niche, people might be tired of reading ebook after ebook. Sometimes they want more of an over the shoulder look at whatever you're teaching them with a video.

I personally find it way easier to pump out content using video than having to sit down for hours writing up an ebook.

      Hey Hennen,
Last week I made a note here that Conversion Expert Eric Graham had done Testing in the last 12 months on e-books and concluded that they have gained some traction in being more popular.

He attributed it to Amazon Kindle.

If you have excellent Content whether a video, webinar, E-book, audio etc.. it can be successful.

You could turn that ebook into a mini video course. Videos seem to have a greater perceived value than ebooks for most people

A lot of success. You need to pick a juicier topic.
