Is my marketing strategy any good?

Hello warriors,

I have come up with a marketing strategy for the year 2015. Thanks to this thread http://www.warriorforum.com/email-ma...-strategy.html

My plans :
forum promo
guest blogging
affiliate marketing
content syndication
joint ventures

Seems like it's only a plan with no execution currently

God. Why am I so lazy.

Is the above marketing strategy any good for web hosting business? What kind of strategy do you suggest for marketing and getting clients for a new web hosting company?

Thanks

Of course it can be good. And ALL those sources can be good tools to bring in new clients to Web hosting.

    My suggestion...
Quit dillydallying around and get to work

For webhosting? I think you already have a good marketing plan. And if you have more budget try to use ppc ads for just initial boost for traffic and build your website's reputation.

Can you share some of your favourite tactics? That would be very helpful.

Please excuse the observation that you're mixing up two different "categories" or "classes" of things, above, Sunoy: you're referring to both traffic-generation methods and to business/monetization models on one list. That's not exactly going to make for an easy discussion!

I suspect (just from the fact that you're asking yourself this so openly) that you're actually less lazy than average: you're more aware of it. And that's potentially encouraging.

I don't think there is really any such thing as being lazy.

What you do with your time is your choice and if you want to change what you are doing that is your responsibility and opportunity to do so.

Whatever you are doing now, does not appear to be bringing you the results you want, so that means it is time to do something else. But it has been my experience that any person giving themselves a negative sort of description, has 2 obstacles to overcome.

They need a new description of themselves AND they need to do something different. Start with re-naming yourself right now, then move on to promoting your webhosting business.

And if you are seeking outside accountability for this, post your new description of yourself here and let other people see that you are being an example for them

Thanks for the correction and the motivation

I was thinking about affiliate marketing and joint ventures as a traffic generation plan plus conversion. I didn't realise the mixups. Can you please share some tips on how I could generate traffic and ultimately conversions with some of the above methods?

      Thanks again.

      really isn't a strategy...

I say that because all you did is say some forms of distribution that you
want to acquire traffic from to put into your list building funnel.

Have you done anything to move toward harnessing traffic from those?
      ================================================== ===============

I plan on using Facebook PPC to get traffic to my list. Lame

Here is something that would be a little better,

I'm going to be spit testing 10-100 different FB ads at a time with different pictures, copy, and demographics to find the highest CTR ads OR the highest revenue returning ads through cheap CPC.

I will then send that cheap targeted traffic to a squeeze page in which I will split test until I can achieve a 50% optin rate .

I will also be creating a plethora of new products on a monthly basis in which I will sell to my list. It will consist of a low end front end product that leads to a core product along with 2 higher costing up-sells and cross-sells after the core product.

I will also be creating content (autoreponder messages) that relate closely to the products I will promote as well as engage my subscribers with statements and questions along with trust building emails and credibility emails.

I will also be segmenting my list into numerous lists to give my subscribers content and products that relate closely to their interests.

That would be a bit more of a strategy rather than saying I will utilize FB ads this year as my marketing strategy.

      ================================================== ==============
You should be focusing on one of those things you mentioned and really study and research it and implement it until it works for you flawlessly. I have a heavy feeling that you are going to be spinning your wheels this year because you are trying to do all those things at the same time and it won't work well or you will be jumping from thing to thing and not really focusing too much.

      Best, Connor.
Thanks for the direction. I tried making a more deeper strategy but that's all I could come with . I guess I still have a lot to learn.

And I think you are correct. Maybe I should just focus on one or two methods and learn it completely. Then move on to the other. I too had the confused feeling that I could possibly be going in circles between all the methods without results this year too

If I were to focus on one or two methods , what would you suggest that would be the most effective?

      Thanks again

        1) Facebook ads
        2) Guest blogging [highly under-rated high quality traffic source if you do it right]
        3) Media buying [Banner ads]

Spend 4 months concentrating on learning something new about each topic EVERYDAY and implement as well.

Hopefully end of the year you have a great traffic machine working for you through those three.

Thanks. I am on monetary scarcity at the moment. So I plan to do free stuffs like guest blogging. I failed at facebook ads once. My ad somehow did not go live. I would still be interested in the future

I'm cynical about banner ads. My clickthrough experience on buysellads was was very low. Like 0.03% . I had also started a thread about it at http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...r-too-low.html just in case you would want to know my experience
I think I'll just focus on guest blogging for now. And forum promotion through sig links since I'll be on the forums a lot learning

Yes, your idea is great but you should first know who your potential customers are. Who do you want to visit your website? Interest them. This way, you will have a lot of direct traffic to your site.

I have a website where it explains about traffic.
I actually came up with a list of target market yesterday. Here it is :
          - Businessmen
          - Web Designers
          - developers
          - music
          - game servers
          - file sharing sites
          - seo people
and a few others. Is it too much to target so many areas? Feedback appreciated
And thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I'm very low on cash. Actually broke right now . Maybe I'll consider in the future . Can you explain how you provide the targeted traffic? I heard lots of scams in other forums. Thanks anyways.

I would suggest to add webinars to this strategy as well.
          Also creating killer-infographics.
Never tried webinars. I should try it sometimes. I heard it is a great way to drive traffic and conversion.

I almost forgot about infographics. I had tried it on a previous website and got very few visitors through them from pinterest. I had very few followers back then. I should give it a try again.

Thanks everybody. The more I try to concentrate my mind on one or two tactics, my mind gets attracted to 10 more tactics. He he he

Ok. So I have come up with a little more detailed plan as suggested by TakeAction. Maybe not completely deailed yet

    - Forum Promo.
I'll just take part in the related forums and help others if can. And maybe post some good offers if I can.

    - Guest Blogging
I subscribed to guest blogging network "myblogguest.com" and will subscribe to more later. I'll write articles and pitch them to the blog owners there. I'll add links to my website in the author bio.

    - Affiliate Marketing
Just plan to convince local people about my recurring affiliate commissions program and make them join. It's harder to keep them on track though . And also I expect a few people from related forums to sign up

    - Content Syndication.
Trying to copy someone from this forum. I think it was Alexa Smith. Build a list of publishers that I can send my articles to. Have no idea how to do it though. Alexa Smith, can you please give me some helpful tips to do it?
    Thanks.

    - Joint Ventures.
Hoping to create some contents and partner up with someone who has a good list.
Do you think someone would be interested in my affiliate commission in return for their list? I doubt it. Since my commissions could be a bit low, though recurring

So that's how far I could go . Any more suggestions please.

    Thank you.

    Thanks
Sunoy, this isn't really a marketing strategy. This is a barebones framework of different channels, or traffic generation methods, as someone else pointed out, that you can use to implement a marketing strategy. This is far too vague to be considered a plan at all.

You need to fine tune your efforts. It's hard to identify how you should use these marketing channels (if at all) without knowing more about your bigger picture strategy for securing your place online.

As for web hosting, that's a broad, competitive marketplace. What are you doing to differentiate yourself? That's a good place to start when it comes to formulating your marketing strategy.

You could, for example, create a content strategy that revolves around teaching small business owners who want to create their own websites how to do so and sell them your hosting that way - much like a lot of hostgator affiliates do to sell hosting. You could even focus on providing this how-to information to a specific type of business owner.

To identify a marketing strategy, sit down and figure out what you're trying to accomplish. Figure out who your target audience is and the best ways to reach them. Identify maybe one, two, or three (at most) of these marketing channels to focus on at first for "expressing" your marketing strategy.

Figure out a tone and style of how you will leverage these channels, what each effort will be attempting to accomplish (not the big picture here but precisely - as in a clickthrough to blog, building your rep, an optin, an actual sale, etc). Each one will have a precise intention, which will be based on what your strategy is - again, these aren't your strategy in themselves.

Then from there you can put together concrete plans for implementing your strategy through each channel. Tackle them one at a time, moving to the next as you lock one down and start seeing results, or at least getting it up and fully-functioning before moving on.

Regarding, your lack of execution, the best way to cure that is execute. Pick the first step in your task, sit down, and get to it. That means paper and pen and your brain. Tackle each step in your strategizing one at a time, and then each step in your implementation one at a time as you get there.

The only way to accomplish anything is taking that first step.

      Seconded!
OP, if you're marketing on a shoestring budget, then i guess you will have to incorporate social media somehow into your marketing, as its relatively cheap....if somewhat time consuming....but thats part of the trade-off.
The challenge will be finding a way to incorporate social media for a web-hosting business, if you can do that, then you may be able to generate enough funds to stat using PPC and media buys.

I guess it's solid. Do it and see. Are you promoting your own web hosting service, or do you plan on being an affiliate? Either way it goes... you still get paid each month for as long as the person stays on the plan. If possible throw some cheap advertising into the mix also.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9823135].message }}
  • To get clients for webhosting I recommend you attend networking events, pitch yourself to different business owners and professionals, then you follow up with them for a contract, or ask them do they know anyone who needs your services.

This was even if you don't get paid from the people you meet, you can always work them for referrals - and this is something you can do to get paid this week!

Also the key to make any type of money at all is action! You gotta do something!

It doesn't matter if it's just calling your friends and asking them if they know anyone who needs a website developed . . .

You gotta get out and do something.

Whatever you have mentioned above is good for web hosting service as well as a marketing strategy. If you go with your plans, then I assure you, you will get the potential and a lot more traffic on your website. And, if possible, you can also think about PPC for getting more benefit regarding your marketing strategy.

Focus on one way of promoting your business and when that succeeds start a second one. Most people plan too many things and end up doing nothing. While it is important to plan, execution is equally important.

I think you're scattered all over the place when it comes to traffic generation for your intended webhosting affiliate promotion. When you hatch so many different plans and avenues to drive traffic, you'll probably end up not doing anything, or leave things half-finished without truly following through.

If your goal is to get fast results, I think going the offline route will probably be better. Network with local business owners and regular individuals in your warm market that are looking to launch a website, and also post ads on Craigslist to set up free or low-cost websites. You cannot avoid talking to people when using this approach, but this will typically set you up for much higher conversions than regular online marketing where there is a lot more competition.

Procrastination is a killer! I think a lot of failures are due to the "want it now" syndrome, but you have to treat this like most hobbies/skills in that you will hardly notice a difference in results from one day to the next, especially when just starting out.... but if you take a reasonable period whether it's 30 days or 3 months and then look at your progress, you should be able to see reasonable results.
Challenge yourself to 30 days of action. then have a look at where you are. At least with a 30 day challenge, you can always see the end and get some sort of momentum going.
    Good luck
