How to Know How Much Sales a Clickbank Vendor Has?

I want to sell a product by a Clickbank vendor and he tells me that some of his affiliates are making $500 per day. How do I check if his sales are high or low?

    Of course you can.

You're looking for the Gravity score.

Grav: 330.17 (that's the highest right now).

It's defined by how many individual affiliates have had at least one sale in the last 30 days. The higher the better but there are some real gems with lower gravity scores as well.

Does this mean if the gravity score is 20, there are 20 affiliates who had a sales in the last 30 days?

Thanks Mike. I used that to do a little math, and while it's not possible to determine exactly how many sales a vendor has, it can give you an idea of how many affiliates have made at least one sale. Actually it can give you a range.

            From the link
Any vendor's gravity is a sum of scores of distinct affiliates who have sold this vendor's products in the last 12 weeks
            An affiliate's score can be:
"1": if he/she sold at least one copy of the vendor's product yesterday
"0,96": if this affiliate's last sale was the day before yesterday
            3 days ago: 0,96^2 = 0,9216
            4 days ago: 0,96^3 = 0,884736
            n days ago: 0,96^(n-1)
To get the minimum number of affiliates who made a sale, that is they all made a sale yesterday, just divide the gravity by 1. If you have a gravity of 5 there are 5 affiliates who's last sale was yesterday.

To get the maximum possible number of affiliates who made a sale, you'll assume the last sale was 12 weeks ago. Assuming 7 day weeks (not 90 days) then you get 84 days minus 1. 0.96^83 equal approximately 0.034. Divide your gravity of 5 by this and you get 148.

So somewhere between 5 and 148 affiliates made at least one sale in the last 12 weeks.

Mathematically, gravity is not really a helpful number. It's not really helpful in working out how well something is selling.

What occured to me is that a product with high gravity is probably something to avoid.

All high gravity really tells you is that there are an awful lot of people selling a product, not that they are making lots of sales. It's more of an indicator of the competition you'll face when you try and sell a product. Just think, a gravity of 300 means that there are potentially up to 8884 other people selling the product.

That's probably why Alexa has a lot more success when selling (good) low gravity products. There's simply less competition.

not sure about that, but I can tell you that score of 20 means that there are at least 20 affiliates doing constant sales.

Normally warriors will tell you that high gravity matter, the smart warriors will tell you gravity does matter, what does is sales pages, offer, and the product itself.

yes, we have sold more products with gravity of 5 to 20 than the high ones.

Alexa in here, she is a warrior and will explain things better then I. But realistically when you sell on clickbank you must build a list, or social following and only offer product you would buy, and high quality ones. With good sales page, and offer, which means you have a better chance of profiting.

stick to stocks, health, wealth, relationship niches, these always do the best.

The 'at least' is correct but 'constant' is wrong

            This.

Ron, your impression - above - of what ClickBank Gravity figures signify isn't at all accurate.

There isn't a correlation between gravity numbers and sales numbers, nor between gravity numbers and conversion-rates, nor necessarily even between gravity numbers and the number of affiliates promoting the product.

With many IM-related and MMO-related products, for example, every time an affiliate buys one copy through his own hoplink, for his own use ("it only happens all the time"!) that adds another point on the product's gravity. It doesn't mean that any affiliates are promoting it at all.

There are many products with single-figure gravities steadily outselling products with much higher gravities.

I hope this all comes across in the helpful way it was intended, Ron.

Like many people earning our full-time livings here mostly as ClickBank affiliates, the extreme irony inherent in seeing the words "The higher the better" ( ) applied to ClickBank gravities, when our best-selling, best-converting products are (for good and valid reasons) typically single-figure-gravity ones, and our long experience of the many and varied drawbacks of trying to promote very high-gravity products, invariably predicate some sort of well-evidenced, explanatory reply! Absolutely no impoliteness intended, but "the higher the better", for gravity, was the impression of ClickBank affiliate promotion with which I originally started out, myself, and was the reason I earned nothing for so many long months! As I've explained at the end of the first of the 5 posts linked to, above, at the time all I really had to do, to start making a living, was to understand how deeply misguided that perception was and act accordingly! .

That info came from ClickBank University Alexa.

I cancelled my account but it was definately in one of the videos.

I agree that the numbers would be skewed by personal sales though.

I see ... thanks. I haven't seen what they say in ClickBank University, about gravity. They do have a bad history of representing exactly how it works, to some extent, on their own site, it must be said. (They did correct many of the impressions previously given there, though, a year or so ago, and they do now warn people that high-gravity products may be harder to promote, I know).

Learn about the Gravity Score and check that!!

That alone can tell you a lot on how much the product has been selling so far!

I wish you the best of the best!

Keep up the great work for sure!

    Cheers!

Unfortunately I can't access CU any more to snag the clip from the video where they explain it as I've cancelled my subsciption (lots of hype - not much quality content).

It was said in one of the training videos. That's all I got.....

"Seplling mistakes", as they're sometimes known, are everywhere, these days.

Just a little tip for you, but sometimes it helps to read the thread (rather than just the OP) before posting in it: it may enable you to avoid stating, as factual, things that have just been exposed, at some length and in some detail, as entirely mistaken perceptions.

    1) Simply asking them.

    2) Good luck.

If the vendor spotlight link is there for your vendor you can actually see the number of sales per everyday in a graph.

    Ok...thanks for the clarification.

I thought it was one month - obviously it is 8 weeks.

Looks like they missed the bit about the weighted sales as well.

The product in question has a gravity of less than 10. Is this still okay?
