Suggestions on Selling a website/domain ?

I have a site that I have done nothing with for some time. I have listed it on Flippa and that resulted in nothing.

I would like to get a little bit of cash from it as I feel the domain name is rather good and should be desirable. The site does not produce any significant revenue. Should I be selling the domaine name or the website?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • By your own submission, the website is worthless.

What would a buyer gain by purchasing it?

The answer is also your sales letter.

  • If you don't think that the site has much income potential then
you can sell the domain name and show that it's an "age domain"
by showing the content listed with the site.

Sometimes the buyer may see potential in the site that you
    don't see.

  • Hey Ray,

I presume you mean an 'aged domain'?

Well, we don't know how old the domain is, as that has yet to be shared with us.

I believe we need more information.
  • The domain is about five years old.

If I am going to just be selling the domain, as the site is not of much value, should I leave the content in place or strip away the content and just have a parked domain?
  • The domain alone is the obvious answer, if the content adds little value.

  • It depends on many factors: domain nane, website income, age, links, reputation, many, many others. You're best bet, depending on the quality of the domain and website, is to contact end-users directly.

To me, these sound like arguments for selling the domain-name, especially if you think it's a nice one. (And for myself, I would do that without it pointing to the website, which will only "confuse the issue". You might put up, yourself, a very simple page announcing that "this domain's for sale", listing its niche-relevant benefits, and so on, and "inviting offers", though?).

People approached directly about a domain-name for sale (and you'd surely want to sell it that way?) react completely differently from people looking at listings on Flippa.

(I appreciate that you may not want to/feel you shouldn't post it here, but if you want a quick opinion by private message from someone who has bought and sold a few hundred domain-names over the years, you're very welcome to one. I don't mean "about its value", of course - nobody can predict that - but more "about its marketability as a domain-name". ).
