Need Help or Tips Selling an online Product

Greetings,

I have a unique, sport specific interactive product ready to sell and I am looking for some help or some advice in regards to the best way to get the product in front of potential customers.

My plan is to write some articles related to the product and post them to the site in order to gain some web traffic but this seems like a very slow method.

I have never taken out ads so I am not sure what that route might cost. I do belong to a few sport groups which I plan on sharing the product with but I believe that only targets a tiny number of potential customers. I am wondering how I could reach a large number of potential customers.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can try the social media websites fist. Create your business pages on the social media websites and portray the information about the products that you are selling. Also, portray the offers that you have on those products.

After writing related articles post them to article directories like Ezinearticles. If the article is quality content, traffic will be attracted to your website.

This is a huge misunderstanding of how article directories work, and what they're for.

For all the reasons explained in posts #2 and #6 of this thread, no article marketer would want potential customer traffic coming to their own site via an article directory (it would be more likely to damage your business than to help it): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

Thanks for the input. I guess writing articles is a slow but steady approach.

Does anybody have any advice on how to effectively advertise an online product with google adsense or bing. What kind of a budget would I need to make it worth while?

I understand if I go too cheap that it would be difficult to tell if the ads are effective but spending a considerable amount of money just to see if it works also seems like a silly approach. Would I be looking at hundreds or much more?

Paid Facebook ads might be something you want to consider.

Before going into google paid traffic.

Bing is cheaper and less strict than google, but the "trade-off" is you get less traffic.

Facebook demographics enable you to drill right down into your ideal buyer as opposed to the keyword targeting offered buy google and bing.

Although adsense allows you to target specific sites.

Which ever way you go with paid traffic you should be prepared for and expect an initial period of testing and optimizing your campaign to get it up and running at a good profit.

Definitely much faster than articles, but there is risk.

If you have time and money you can always do both.

The first step if you haven't done so already is to create a website to use as your base of online operations. it is harder to sell something online when you don't have a website.

Next step is a Facebook fan-page, name it in a way similar to your website. After that, create a Twitter, focused around your sport.

Pick 10 keyword phrases about your topic, write 10 blog posts one for each keyword and post those on Facebook and Twitter one a day.

Create 10 images, one for each keyword phrase and use one of those for each blog post as the featured image. Post each of those on Facebook and Twitter..
you should be getting some visits to your site now. And that is what you need in order to have some traffic to convert into buyers.

I do have a website- the product is sold through the website once the customer purchases the membership package. From the sounds of the advise so far, I should just populate the site with as much related content as possible. I had planned to use social media- thanks for the advice.

            Rob,

How is that going to help you?

In your first post you asked for "some help or some advice in regards to the best way to get the product in front of potential customers."

Posting content on your site if fine, but it's not going to get your product in front of your targeted audience any time soon without specific and aggressive promotion. Internet marketing is not "post it on your site and wait until somebody happens by" . . . at least that's not how it is done by the people in this business who are profitable and making good money.

Based on your market research, you should have identified where there is demand in your market for exactly what you are offering. The reason you need to know that is so that you can take your marketing to them - so that you can put your offer in front of the right people who are looking for what you have.

Selling online is all about putting high quality offers in front of hungry prospects who have already raised their hand to let you know that they will buy what you have if you can show them how they will derive benefit from spending money for your solution.

Filling your site with content is no substitute for actual marketing.

Steve B, I know my target audience and I am in that sport business. I am selling a hockey related program. I have never launched a product like this before so that is why I am asking here. I have groups and many contacts that I could start with.

Having limited experience with this, I guess the fear of failure kicks in and that is why I have been putting off directing it at the people I know. I imagine others have gone through this?

              Anyhow, thanks for the advice.

Hey Mike Shook, that is really awesome. Also another thing you could do on top of that is create a youtube channel and convert those 10 articles into videos, posting a link back to your site in the description. Pin the videos to a Pinterest account for added exposure.

I agree....that using Facebook ads and targeting certain demographics who maybe interested in your product maybe the best way to start off. Create a mini website/sales page around your product, and get some reviews from others in order to increase your conversions.

What is your "interactive product"? Desktop software? Mobile software? Subscriber-only Web-based software? There could be more of us who'd probably offer better, more specific advice if we know what your "interactive product" is -- Otherwise, I believe the advice you'd get could mostly be generic promotional campaign ideas...

Finish the content and sell it as PLR. A lot of people need articles like that for their list.

Well, I got your point. But I don't think that blogging is a slow process. It is the best way to elaborate everything about your product through blogging. And if you prefer the SEO, SEM and SMO strategies for your blogging, then I assure you, your blog will rank on Google 1st page and most of the visitor visit on your page. The whole process will take 4-5 days, if you will do the digital marketing(SEO, SEM and SMO strategies) in proper way.
It is the best way to marketing and selling as well.

If your blog have articles relate your product and quality useful. You try to promote with social media, PPC or Email marketing. You will get traffic more.
