I was going through Clickbank products and wondering if it is better to promote products that have a rebill or just a one time payment. My concern is that products with rebills might have a higher refund rate. What do you prefer when picking a CB product?

Also is Clickbank rebill a one time upsell or is it a monthly recurring payment? If it is either, is there a way to search products with monthly payments?

There's no clean answer to this. You need to assess each product individually.

Like, a product with a one-off commission may be worth more than the average customer value of a rebill product you're looking at. Equally, an under-the-radar rebill product may have a small monthly commission, but it may just appeal to a very targeted, very loyal audience.

It's a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly recurring payment

In the Advanced Search you can choose Billing Type = Recurring

Typically, "rebills" occur monthly until the buyer of the product chooses to "unsubscribe". I think it is to any affiliate marketer's advantage to promote products with rebills because that is extra money in your pocket on a monthly basis coming from a single product sale. I dont really see the correlation between rebills and refund rates. Refund rates on Clickbank are typically in the 2-9% range depending on the niche. Internet marketing seems to be the higest. Refunds for the most part are unavoidable in any niche.

I find it extremely difficult to find rebilled products there with sales pages to which I'm willing to send my traffic, as an affiliate.

One wants to be confident that the "average customer" renews their subscription for quite a decent length of time, indicating a general perception of value from the product/service/membership?

The underlying basis of most affiliate sales is the trust-based relationship between the affiliate and the potential customer, and nobody can afford to recommend something that most people renew "only about once" (or even less)? The long-term damage to one's credibility would never be compensated for by the few sales made?

    Just my perspective ...

(The reality is that different affiliates typically have hugely differing refund rates for the same products. As any member of ClickBank's staff with whom you discuss it will quickly explain, affiliates who have very high refund rates tend to have them for every product they promote, while those of us who have very low refund rates also tend to have those for every product we promote. The individual affiliate, the representations made by the individual affiliate, the traffic sources used by the individual affiliate, and so on, are overwhelmingly the significant factors. It's also true that some niches, because of the overall nature of their products and traffic demographics, do tend collectively to have slightly higher-than-average refund rates, but this is mostly a red herring that has very little to do with the realities explained just above: the bottom line here is that affiliate behavior is by far the primary determinant of ClickBank refund rates.)

    • Hi Alexa

Great insight into "who" is doing the marketing and what they are saying.

Also, agree with you on the poor quality of the SP's that are linked to rebilled products on CB.

      Regards
