Is there a reason why nobody is mentioning webinars here??

I mean literally everything I've read so far about webinars.. people are saying that there's nothing that converts better than a great webinar.. with conversions in the double digits being pretty standart..

Is this like a big secret or why am I not seing this all across the web??

I believe, not many of us think that we have a good presentation skills... Other than that... Many of us from the part of the world where English is not their first language.

If you do a WF search on the word "webinar" you'll get 2758 threads returned. I wouldn't say that nobody is talking about them.

You might also consider that there are many people who abhor webinars. The typical complaint is that they are "pitch fests" - the listener is held captive for 1-2 hours listening to readily available generic information so that eventually the speaker can promote a $2995 product to solve all the attendee's income needs. Just realize that they are not universally loved.

      • Hi Steve

This would be the best definition of the BS Webinars that we have seen.

        Bolded the best part.

        Awesome.

Well if someone is starting from the 'ol square 1 and they want to make money...

Jumping on a webinar and going live in front of X amount of people probably isn't going to be on their To-Do list

However I do agree there should be much more chit-chat about webinars...

As that's something I love personally talking about.

They take a lot of time to plan for and do, and not many people are willing to pay for admission. You have to be an established name to charge admission.

Hosting free webinars on your site is a great tactic to earn return traffic and build brand recognition. But again, they are time sinks.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

Do you believe people when they tell you these things?

If they speak the truth, then why are you not seeing this all over the web?

Like anything else, it is only effective if it works for you and helps your business.

You can't really figure that out by reading sales letters and what other people say.

I think the effectiveness of webinars really depends a lot on your business and your audience.

There is also a difference between "webinar = online course" and "webinar = sales pitch".

I assume you are talking about the second since you mention "conversions".

I think you need to look at what a webinar could do for you and your business and then compare the benefits to the cost and work of doing a webinar.

Having sat through a few I think it is generally because they are awful and formulaic.

Hi I am somebody you've never heard and I'd like to introduce you to Mr nobody who has made 1,000,000,000 in just 24 hours with no knowledge by using this special free software that we'll talk about later

    Welcome Mr Nobdoy

Hi thanks great to be here. What I'm going to do today is keep repeating the word value in the hope that if i say it enough you will believe that you've not wasted 4 hours in a sales pitch - now that's value.

First I am going to tell you me no one to someone story and how this bright shiney button saved my life

Sales pitch that's full of 'value' followed by

If you agree put yes in the box I can see lots of yes' David says yes Paula says yes Enrique says hell yeah

False scarcity yes this digital product in only available for the next 1000 years

Now because the first presenter is such a good friend and i want to provide you with value I'm going to give a special discount this programme alone would normally sell for 10,000 without the 101 extra special value enhancing extras that I've added that alone are worth 50,000.

So that's 60,000 worth of value that you can have for just 2000 but only whilst this never ending sales pitch is taking place (or any other time you decide to return)

Sounds like you have the makings of a great WSO right here. DO you by chance have a webinar that explains all this in more detail?

I was just kind of teasing because there are so many webinars that follow that format and it is almost as if presenters had purchased a program that taught them to say those thing in that way.

I do have a webinar service and it works really well for certain things - like delivering paid for trainings. The hour long sales pitches misnamed trainings in the signup emails might work in some markets but when everyone is doing them in IM, they kind of lose their luster.

I know plenty of people who are doing them, and are getting good results with them. Plus, I generally get an invite to one (from someone I vaguely know) at least 2 or 3 times a week. I hate listening to sales webinars myself, and always turn them down.

But the only reason I'm not doing them myself is because my life isn't suited to it. I can't commit to being in front of my computer for a couple of hours at some specific time without any distractions. If they fitted my lifestyle, I'm sure I could get good results from them, even with my basic presentation skills.

you can pre record most of it and just be live for the q and a.

to balance out my earlier comments I have used them with buyers as an educational tool or as part of the after sales. The generic one that are just sleazy pitch fests i hate.

i know someone who listened to Anik Signal for 4 hours 'talking about nothing' (his words not mine).

I came here via a webinar :-). I think that they're time consuming to create and often more tech involved vs a nice simple e-book.
The person who recommended I come here couldn't even write his own blog, let alone a webinar without a team of folk so maybe that's a good indicator.

If you have the skills maybe you're in your own little niche and can offer something a bit different to the average WSO....embrace it and see if you get results.

Or it could be webinars are not part of a companies business model simply because selling isn't how they generate revenue.

However, if you're selling something, it wouldn't hurt to put something together and at least test it as another revenue stream for your company.

They used to be symposiums...pre- Internet.

You pay $10-$20 for a spot where you will learn "valuable techniques and secrets."

Two hours of "Look how much I made on this crazy deal!" Lots of props and pictures. Massive enthusiasm.

10 minutes from closing time, "oh by the way, you can get all the details in our $997 course available right now at the back of the room."

It ain't a new game, just faster.

Yeah the whole approach is to beat you to death with smoke and mirrors and then make you think that what you just heard is so important that you will sell your "first born" to get it!!!

  • Webinars are definitely powerful. A great presentation packed with value will give you a lot of conversions. As long as you have quality traffic running to your webinar opt-ins you can make a great living.

Webinars have actually been growing rapidly in popularity especially over the last few years as the costs of broadband have plummeted. When people are making serious purchasing decisions, they are more likely to educate themselves through webinars as long as it resonates with their needs and position in the buying cycle.

Personally, I have used webinars rather extensively for demonstrating high-end Amazon affiliate products. Integrated with other marketing channels such as email, telemarketing, direct mail, and social media, webinars can provide compelling interactive experiences that engage prospects and help accelerate the buying cycle.

The pitch formula webinars quadagon deftly outlined are basically infomercials you see in the daytime. Now if you could get people to show up ate 3-4am (when people are half asleep and anything looks great) like the infomercials do, I'll bet your conversion rate will jump... But your refund rate might too :-)

Webinars are great. Although the pitch-fest epidemic has turned a lot of people off it's still a great way to connect with your audience visually, and perfect for:

    Trainings
    Prduct demontrations
    Product launches

You can also take the webinar, edit it, touch it up a bit and take the content and turn it into a product for sale or as lead generator to build your list.

Yes majority of the webinars promote and pitch usually a high ticket product at the end. So majority of the attendees feel like they got nothing from the session though they are convinced about the product's worth but couldn't go for at that point of time.

However, not all webinars are hype and create a sense of urgency. Some good marketers deliver content only webinars that are really helpful to the people.

Besides, one can always get the knowledge about a new business idea or a tweak in the marketing method by attending webinars. This knowledge can be useful to enhance your current or future online marketing ventures.
