Seeking Internet Marketing and Promotions Partner

I'm working on my business plan for a physical product. Being a one man shop, I know that I will not be able to both create a consistently high quality product and put in the necessary time to take advantage of online opportunities. I'm thinking of a few ancillary niche websites that could provide affiliate and advertising income opportunities. I believe these niches are very underserved at this time. I would pay for hosting, help with web design (probably wordpress) create content in the form of videos, photos and text. Some additional content would need to be created and/or solicited from other sources.

The way I see this working is the partner and I would split the revenue from the ancillary site 50/50. Plus a commission through an affiliate program for purchases linked from those sites. It will all be very transparent.

Back in the day I used to very involved in Internet Marketing, but I haven't kept up with best practices and tools. Frankly, I just don't have the interest in spending time in that area. So the person I would partner with would need to be experienced and self directed. We would have to agree on a strict no Spam policy however.

So what do you think of this idea? If you think it's stupid just say so - it's ok - that's why came here. Is there something you think would make the idea work better? Are there problems and concerns that I haven't thought of? (I don't know what I don't know)

I'm months away from launch at least. This is just at the very early formative stage. I appreciate any and all feedback - even if you think I'm an idiot for thinking of such a thing.

Thank you in advance for your feedback

Bob

I would stay away from partners personally, especially online. Either one person will end up doing all the work, or one person will end up scamming the other (or both.)

If your business idea is really that great, hire somebody to do the tasks you can not do and keep all profits for yourself.

Yeah, that was my first thought as well. Partners are always a little risky. Unfortunately I'm putting my money into the shop, tools and materials. My alternative would be to just start with my storefront site and build from there as sales pickup. I'm just thinking of ways to jumpstart the business. I've been online since 98, I have a good reputation and would provide references. I would do the same kind of due diligence for anyone I consider.

      Thanks for the feedback James

I would definitely post this in the JV section, I've found some great partners using that section of the forum.

Thanks Mike I didn't even see the JV Section. I don't want to run afoul of rules against duplicate posts. Maybe those who are responsible for such things will move it for me?

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
