Why Do You Want To Make Money Online?

I know this might sound like a dumb question, but
everyone has their reasons...

...what's yours?

Personally, I enjoy waking up when I want (anywhere between 9AM-10AM)
and "work" until about 4PM-5PM. During that time I take breaks and watch
TV or even go down to the bar 3 blocks away and visit my sister (she's a
bartender) and have a couple cold ones.

For me, nothing beats the freedom.

How about you?

I love my job but in a few years I reckon I will be well and truly over it. Looking to make money online for the freedom that it gives and if done well the financial benefits.
Tried network marketing and hated it, been dabbling in blogging and enjoy writing and would like to make a success of it.

    cheers

    Freedom and more money.

Those 2 there can help with most things in life.

More money to spend on my wife and more time to spend with her. Being able to pay bills and still have time to enjoy myself...

  • Freedom is a big one although I already have a lot of that with my current 9-5 (yeah right) job. I am currently looking to go up the ladder for my last position working for someone else. The plan is to then use online/own business methods of making money to build enough money to start my socially conscious businesses knowing that my pension isn't reliant on selling out.

It's refreshing that the term "freedom" is common here.
For me I have a chronically ill wife and the opportunity to start a business through I.M. is a real chance to get that freedom. The opportunity to be free to move anywhere in the world to a warmer climate, to work hours that I want to and be able to spend more valuable time with my favourite person
(and it's her birthday today), so it's worth the effort and late nights.

I have seen the potential of IM. I like the idea of rinse and repeat. I dont want to work for someone elses dream. I want passive income. Instead of the victim mentality I see and hear about so often about how there are no good jobs and the economy sucks etc. I want to take action and do good for myself while all my dumbass old highschool friends are getting paid 10 bucks an hour doing hard physical labor for 50 hours a week.

      Good question!
For me it is FREEDOM on so many levels:
Waking up in the morning, asking myself: "Hm, how much did I earn last night?"
Let's see how I can help my virtual assistance's,
Which car will I use today, driving me and my girl to the beach,
      But also:
Which 3D animation will I start to make with my animation team?
How long before I make my first space trip?
When will I and my girl go to Tahiti, this month or the next?

Well, you get the picture..total freedom!

Its all over FREEDOM actually. Besides, IM is the platform from where you can fulfill your dreams. By doing 9-5 jobs you can live but can't get extra money to fulfill your choices. IM giving you that opportunity. There are more reasons obviously but those are main.

Well, since you ask: I think your comments here are every bit as perceptive, insightful and significant as those offered in the 222 other recent, inimitably profound posts with which you've so systematically been transforming the appearance, quality and usefulness of this forum: indeed, it could even be said that your contributions lend an entirely new meaning and interpretation to the expression "forum marketing".

    1) Are actually making a dime online
    AND
    2) By "Freedom" don't actually mean, "I'm too lazy to work" so i'll pretend crowd...

    Just a thought...

Ironically, no one wants to make money online or offline for that matter. Money is simply a form used for transactions. How do I know, because I could say, OK I'll take care of everything for the rest of your lives and you never have to make a single dime again and then you can rest assured that people would quit their jobs and back away from online marketing (most people). It's never about the money, it's about the contents of what money can do. If everything was taken care for you and I bought you your dream house and car. What would be the use of money?

See, the reason most people struggle to make any money online is because they are chasing money, they are chasing a lifestyle so vigorously that, they forget that, the value of money is simply exchanged for the value of something else. So, if you want more money then provide more value but keep money off of your mind because it's about the mindset of giving value.

Again, none of your want to make money online, you want to live a happy, fulfilled life and to do this you simply become extremely valuable to others and everything that you want will fall in your lap, effortlessly.

I would say the personal freedom would be my biggest motivator for earning a decent income online. I'm not in the game to become the most successful online marketer millions upon millions of earnings.

No, I'm in it for the freedom. Making just enough money to be able to live, pay expenses, save some and perhaps travel once a year would be enough for me. By doing something that you genuinely enjoy will more than likely make you a happier person. And having the freedom to distribute your workload how you please is even better.

Of course, more money never hurts, but for me it would be enough if I could just reach that tempting freedom.

So I'll just keep working on my online business until I hopefully one day can achieve this long-term goal!

    A few reasons:

    1. More freedom
    2. I enjoy the business side of it and having a vision and seeing it through to tangible results
    3. I enjoy the subject of my online businesses and would be involved in the niches even if it didn't bring me money

I'm probably in a smaller segment here with a regular job that I enjoy probably over 80% of the time and pays me six figures. But, I can't retire for 20 more years and who knows if I'll still enjoy it down the road. The side business(es) give me the flexibility to quit showing up to work if I ever want to or should circumstances in my life change.

That said, I do enjoy the business side of building something from scratch and seeing it evolve. Plus, I don't NEED the money so most of it just goes into savings, traveling, and investing in new opportunities. The key to wealth is, in my opinion, multiple revenue streams and I enjoy doing different things: stocks, rental properties, online, brick and mortar, and the regular 9-5. I also have a case of ADHD and enjoy bouncing around.

Good post. Along with everybody else I would have to say the freedom is truly priceless. I think I just love to write as well & must have got that from my dad. He wrote several books as well before he passed away. I would also love to be able to make a nest egg for my little boy & maybe pay for his college one day too. I think the best part about internet marketing is that you really have no limit to what you can make it, as long as you are willing to put in the time

To be my own boss. The freedom of planning my day and not to answer to anyone but myself. I love to write and now is the time to do so. Obviously 'freedom and the flexibility' is the main reason.

Being able to 'perform' or 'construct a service or product that has the ability to generate recurring or residual income streams is a luxury 'most jobs' and my prior offline businesses have never offered.

Therefore, the ability to capitalize on being paid many times over for completing a task like writing or building a sales funnel 'blew my mind' once I saw how others created/generated success online.

Couple that with a sincere effort to assist others in obtaining this knowledge and helping them break free, while getting paid...Priceless!

When my journey online began, it wasn't so much about the money, I just got burned out on physically and exhausting (labor intensive) contractor gigs that paid well... But required I be physically present and physically able to keep going.

Like the post above mentioned 'plastering' which I am familiar with...I was a swimming pool/spa builder, and while it was something I was once passionate about... I've come to accept the money I made came at a price of my real ambitions, time, energy, and freedoms.

Lastly, I got online to pursue my love for writing...not money. To have both...win/win!!!

One of my reasons is my short 3 step morning commute from my bed to my work station.

Don't get me wrong, my business took a lot of work to set over and gain momentum over the years. But i really enjoy the fact that working an extra hour or two a day on given projects doesn't necessarily mean a some arbitrary hourly rate like over time at a job. Depending on the work it could mean a lot higher ROI for only a little more work.

I could technically work no more than 3 - 4 hours daily and still pull in a solid income which is easily higher than the average full time income in the US.

This is because my efforts aren't filtered through some organization/corporation where I am merely one gear in the assembly line. The effect of my efforts are 100% felt by me, and so the income is directly proportional to the quality of work I put into my business.

That can't be said about many jobs where politics, gossip and other irrelevant crap (I had a kitchen job before my business took off) are part of the daily grind.

Also, this is quite literally a business that's with me where ever there's an internet connection.

Not to say I take my business every where i go, because it's quite lovely to unplug at frequent intervals, but I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have an income that comes with me as i travel about.

No travel commute. Very minimal upkeep fees (hosting, autoresponder etc)...

I could literally write a book about why I love my business lol

    Right now what's driving me:

Just my life's purpose I guess.

This is just something I had to do. Believe me I tried to quit many times but failed.

We as human beings are driven by our 'fear' of PAIN.

It was going to be a lot more painful for me if I had quit than the pain I went through (and still go through from time to time) to succeed.

No more hollaring at every new female who gets hired. Get to sleep in till 12pm if i want. Get to eat whenever i want. Get to do whatever the hell i want. The reason I wanted to make money online was to just test out the market and see if it was possible. When I was a teenager and told my relatives what I was doing, they were against it saying it' all a big scam and that I was an idiot etc. That motivated me to make more money online and once I was in my twenties, I then started to make a lot more money. I received a cheque for $11,074 back in 2011 and showed all my relatives.

As I figured, they started to suck my d*ck. (Not literally, I'm not into incest). They started to hang around with me a lot more and asked how I did it but I just told them to stick with their 9-5 jobs because only "idiots" would do what I was doing online.

This will be my first post on here so hello everybody .

The reason i am working online is definatly for a bit more freedom and the fact that i enjoy it.

I work 10hours a day 5 days a week and never have saturdays off, as most people here do I put up with the typical working for someone else lifestyle.
I enjoy my job as a car salesman but it takes up so much time in my life.
I don't care too much for expensive things and the best things, i care for quality time while i'm alive.

I can happily spend a days work on my computer (which lately every spare minute i have has been put toward my online efforts.
I'm still learning lots and building up my online life without income but i enjoy it.

That is my reasons also oneday when i have a family it'd be great to spend 4 or 5 hours in the morn working and then the arvo doing family things

A lot of work and time to go before i can get to that point though

      Pete

For me, it's about freedom. Freedom to work where I want, when I want.

I think it came about because of the realisation that we really are living in the first era of civilisation that truly allows you to run a business that can be cheap to set up, provides a useful service and doesn't have much in the way of overheads.

It sounds corny, but it's rewarding to help people, too - something that my previous job didn't really allow for (except helping the CEO make an absolute fortune, of course!).

Why do I like to make money online? Well when I first started out online it was to move away from pain. The pain of working for someone else and not being able to set my own scehdule. The pain of having a boss and making someone else rich (that's what you do when you have a JOB). Now I realize after all these years that internet marketing is my passion. I would do this stuff even if I wasn't compensated for it (sounds weird but it's true). I love creating content, posting in forums and designing websites,etc... Once you get to that point success is inevitable. If you're just motivated by money and the passion isn't there you won't last long in the world of online business. Just my two cents.

I want to make money online so that I can invest that money into my dream of taking alternative powered indoor aquaculture/hydroponic greenhouse to poverty stricken rural areas to provide local healthy food to communities. To finish up building a couple of homes I started, to help other people with the confidence and direction needed to succeed...

      Scalability.

If I'm going to invest time and resources toward making money, I want to pursue a path that allows that return to scale massively. Nowhere else will you have the opportunity to add value to such a massive global audience.

Yes, if you can make $1 online you can make $1000..... So I agree with this scalability.

So if you can make $1000 online, all you have to do is scale that up. To the power of 100 and you have $1million dollars in sales.

SCALE and LEVERAGE are the keys to success from many billionaires. And remember millionaire create lots of billionaires, gotta have money to MAKE more money! Fancy that.

Im doing this to eventually retire my family, and provide for my loved ones. Making money online is just a means to end, and isnt what I'm obsessed with.

Like many other, I enjoy the freedom.
Mostly the freedom of not being stuck to a physical location.

Working online has allowed me to travel for 6 months at a time. No need to ask for "vacation days", no need to walk into the office every day at 8 am... just the world and my own schedule.

I want to be paid in accordance to how much time i have put into something. I want to be free to travel and still get paid (or even paid to travel), and I want to work wherever and whenever I want.

I think freedom is the keyword here.
Freedom to make your own schedule, freedom to do something you actually enjoy, freedom to work with clients you like (in a successful freelancer's case), and so on. No 9 to 5 job can beat that!
