      Thank you for your advice,
do you think the free shipping should stay on top of the picture? so custom can see it clearly.?

In a business term, say you sent something for $100 plus $10 shipping and that thing was to break in transit then the buyer would request a refund so you have to refund back $100. If you charged $80 with $30 shipping then you'll only have to refund $80...

Keeping that in mind I would always try to keep the Maximum amount for shipping whilst still keeping the offer attractive...

$89 For product, Rest on Shipping...

    But thats just me

You are on the seller side. that is very good. but if customer want a refund, they will ask for full refund even you have indicated in the ploicy that shipping cost is not refundable.

As for a buyer side, do you think product is $89, shipping is $21, shipping fee is a bit high? Or you will prefer free shipping?

You should test different approaches to find what works best for your circumstances.

Marketing is physiology. Free shipping is a very powerful motivator.

If you charged $80 with $30 shipping then you'll only have to refund $80...
I wouldn't let potential refunds dictate your marketing strategies.

^ I agree. Free shipping is probably your best option.
Plus, where are you selling your product?
Many websites have the option for buyers to search for items with free shipping! I assure you most potential buyers will click on that and they won't even get to see your product.

I did some testing on Ebay. I would determine the shipping then use that as my starting price with free shipping. It worked much better then starting at $0.99 and charging shipping.

In my mail-order business I could actually get away with a higher price when I offered free shipping.

I repeat: FREE shipping is a very powerful motivator!

Wow, I think so too. I sell on etsy, there is no free shipping option .

If the item is hand made then they are probably not the "exact" same thing

I take your statement that they are the exact same thing to mean that the amounts total up to the same sum.
Regardless of the price, I agree that the vast majority will choose free shipping.

But just taking your query at face value, I would choose the $100 item over the $80 one simply because of the psychological factor of the appearance of better quality.
The lower priced item subconsciously creates the appearance of being of lower quality (even if that is not the case), and the 3x higher shipping cost compounds the impression of it not being nearly as good a purchase.

Depends where you sell it..on ebay most people will go with free shipping

In your own site, having free shipping banners will generate interest

The best thing to do is test it

^ Oh, sorry... for some reason when I replied, I had eBay in mind, or others similar websites that have the free shipping option available

In that case, since they have a price filter, I'm almost sure most people will search for items under $100 (you said 100 + 10).So, try setting the price at $99, maybe? ad the rest is shipping costs. It could work.

I agree with free shipping. Split test the results of price and image variants. Hopefully you'll make enough sales to see statistically significant data.

Yeah I 'd test out what works best, the only way is to try this out on real customers. I 'd opt for the cheaper product but higher delivery. Also looks more attractive initially when customer is browsing listings.
