Account Suspended....Help!

Okay, I am on the verge of having a nervous breakdown.

I wake up this morning to find out that my stevewagenheim.com domain has
been suspended. In fact, all domains I have with this hosting service (a
warrior here at this forum in fact) have been suspended.

What in God's name would cause this (I didn't spam anybody and know of
no reason why this should happen) and what do I do about it?

I am, for all practical purposes, out of business today.

Please help.

Man, that's scary - can you get the direct phone number of the hosting company and call them. If you do, try not to be angry at first as they will be defensive and not want to help you, it could just be a human error somewhere.

It's still not working for you??? Need direction?...

As Phil says, try to contact them in a calm fashion.

Is it shared hosting, or dedicated?

Have you exceeded your bandwidth limit, perhaps?

Looks like your host is using a Hostgator reseller account. Is that right?

    Has he paid his bill?

Steve, the person who set me up (a warrior) gave me so much bandwidth
that there is no way I could come anywhere near it.

I went to whois to see who to contact but it doesn't say who the domain
is hosted with so I don't even know who to call.

Is there any way I can find this info out?

I am totally lost right now.

Bingo...that's exactly what happened. He didn't pay his bill and they
      dropped his package.

Well, looks like I'm just going to have to open my own account and take
care of this myself from now on.

It's so sad when you can't rely on anybody buy yourself.

        Too true.

And for whatever it costs...$25 or so for your own reseller account...it's a no-brainer.

Glad I could help, and good luck.

        And that's the lesson...

For mission critical things like hosting, domain names,
lists, etc - have them within YOUR control as much
        as possible.

If you are going to use a third party for these, make
        sure that they're reliable.

Don't rely on someone paying their light bill for your
        lights to be on.

You be the one in direct communication with the
service provider for billing and support.

Also have a backup plan in case things go 'tits up' at
        any time.

        Dedicated to your success,

It looks to me like your site has been hacked. See the attached image file. Did you get any emails recently about your site having phishing scripts on it?

Hacked again? Cheese and crackers. This is the 2nd time this year.

But the last time I didn't get suspended.

      This is getting ridiculous.

If there is indeed a phishing script on there, your host really has no choice but to suspend the account until the offending script has been removed. I've had it happen to my clients from time to time as well. The emails that you get from Visa and M/C are very explicit in what you are required to do.

Insecure passwords, folders set to 777 and unsecure or outdated scripts are ways that hackers can get into your hosting account and setup these phishing schemes.

This happened to me two weeks ago - I had to have my service provider restore my account from the week prior. I lost a weeks worth of website changes but it was sure better than losing everything.

Steve - perhaps hostgator could do the same if it comes down to it?

Steve - I've waking up a few times to see disastrous things happening to my websites. It sucks and you want to cry. This doesn't help but chances are damn good the cause of the problem is simple and easily rectified once the proper people get involved. As Phil mentions, call them direct and they will take your problem with a sense of urgency. (Chances are you are not alone with this problem)

Take a deep breath and pluck away at the problem and, in my experience, by days end there is a good chance everything will be fixed.

    Good luck!

    Ouch.

I don't know what I could do to help - some temporary server space maybe - but if there's anything you can think of, pm me.

Is it your domain or your web hosting account? If you have backups, just move the site to another server and update your domain to point to the new one.

    Steve,

I added to my original post, but the suspended notice has been redirected to:

    http://alto.websitewelcome.com/suspended.page/

I believe that websitewelcome.com is Hostgator.

So, this Warrior presumably has a reseller account with them.

You could try contacting Hostgator if all else fails.

Like I said, perhaps his reseller account has been suspended...and has cascaded down to his customer's sites...

    Pure speculation.

Unfortunately there's nothing we cand do. You should ask the customer support of your hosting company as soon as possible.

By the way, I use OpenDNS and your site is classifed as phishing.

Steven, your nameservers are ns347.websitewelcome.com ns348.websitewelcome.com

Doing a WHOIS on websitewelcome.com did not reveal anything as it is privacy protected.

However if you go to websitewelcome.com, it says

For abuse issues related to the websitewelcome.com domain, please email your complaint with any relevant logs to abuse@websitewelcome.com

I would suggest that you write to that e-mail

Just call hostgator and ask them what happened..
I think your website is suspended because of someone hacked it and placed some virus or phishing script on it.

Ask hostgator to restore your account and upload your last backup if you have one.. If you don't keep backups you should ask hostgator to give you their backup copy, check html on the main page for strange codes and upload it.

Well, that's good to hear in a way. I hope HG will be able to get you moved over to your own account quickly so your websites are back up and running. I wonder how many others are in the same boat and don't even know it yet?

In the time it's taken me to read this thread it looks like you're back online. When I first visited I got a suspension notice and now it's back to your page.

Try to avoid reseller hosting for anything that isn't an autoblog or whatever. At the very least go direct to source and get shared hosting with someone like Hostgator but preferably put your "mission critical" stuff on it's own hosting. Sure it costs you a load more but how much would you pay to avoid having that feeling again?

    Cheers,

    Andy
