backup software recommendations?

I'm in the market for a new backup software, (windows 7 64bit ) either free or commercial (if the price is good) I have tried acronis true image 2011 (but crashes due to attached USB sticks that are formatted with 4kb allocation size (not sure if the later versions have this fixed?) and also the latest version (2015 looks horrible as they changed the UI into a horrible metro style interface (and loads of complaints about missing features and the UI in general) so people are going back to 2014

so, I am trying Paragon backup and recovery 14 free (but taking a huge amount of time to backup my 88gig used spaced SSD (its 256gig with 88gig used)

so, my question is simple, what backup software would people recommend? and experience with both good backups and recovery? free or commercial (as long as the price is OK)

as I really need one that is faster then Paragon, but still reliable, in restoring backups.

while some people favour acronis, the latest version is probably a skip, but I guess I could buy the 2014 if all else fails, (which people seem to like over the latest horrible mess of a version that they have released)

so any recommendations in this?

    I've been using Carbonite for some time, and appreciate its ability to automatically backup new files or changed files. The one big caveat is that it doesn't automatically backup video files; you have to go in and manually do it. Other than that, I also like its mobile app. I can use my smartphone to access my backed up files. But Id on't just rely on Carbonite. I also do a manual backup every month or so on an external hard drive.

    You don't say how you're using Acronis, ongoing live or offline with cd boot.
    I've gone from 2011 to 2015 because of the SSDs etc and yes, it has less functions but nothing having to do with backups. It does just what it says, recognizes everything I throw at it and it does it very fast.
    I don't see any major changes in using it so I don't know what you're describing. I'm just not seeing it.
    I've tried many but keep going with Acronis. For live backups I use online cloud service.

      I have been very pleased with Macrium Reflect (the free version), having used it to back up and restore several computers in the last year, with no problems whatsoever.
