Google Keywords with Domains.

Hi, I was wondering the importance of Google Keywords when deciding to buy a domain name to flip.

I've found a couple of domains that have about 1000 and 3500 unique searches each per month. I know this isn't crazy big, but should that make me buy it do you think? It's in a desirable industry and I guess those hits could mount up for someone per year...

I dunno, what do you think?
Cheers.

I've heard that keywords aren't as effective in the domain name anymore as they use to.
So you'd best just do some branding.
    Create a catchy name.

For all my domaining purposes, about zero.

Dave, take my tip: if you want to learn about the domaining business, get your advise/guidance from a proper, professional source, from someone who has been doing it for a living for many years, and not from random comments from strangers in a forum full of people advising others over subject about which they know almost nothing themselves!

I think you're going about this totally the wrong way, and need to learn and understand all the basic concepts before you start trying to "take action". I've posted on this subject in 3 or 4 threads, now, in which you've been asking about domains, and each time has filled me with vicarious trepidation!

Indeed very confusing when everyone has conflicting advice.
Hard to figure out who knows what they are talking about tbh...

      Indeed.

Many of the people who post here on this subject have very little idea of what they're talking about, at all. (Some of them even seem barely aware that "domaining" is a totally different business model from selling websites! ).

The people here who know what they're talking about, whose posts are worth seeking, following and learning from, on this subject, include Gene Pimentel, Suzanne Bucciarelli, Steve Browne and Tom Addams.

I've excluded myself from that little list, not through false modesty. I've had a little sideline domaining business for 5 years, successfully enough now to employ one full-time person in it, but I'm not sure that the way I do it is necessarily representative of the "mainstream way" of doing it: I almost never pay more than reg-fee for a domain; I buy only what experience has taught me I’ll be able to sell pro-actively; I deal almost exclusively in .com domains; I play “hard-ball” in negotiations with people who have expressed any interest in buying anything; I’m willing to stick to my guns and be wrong, and risk turning down offers and end up letting a domain expire unsold (it seems to me that you have to be willing to make a proportion of mistakes, albeit hopefully a gradually reducing proportion, to do well in this business!); etc.

Thanks so much for your help, Alexa. I like the idea of it bringing it a little side money every once and awhile.

I will their and your posts to learn from. Thanks again for that.
Are you willing to share, maybe in a PM if better, a couple of the domains you have bought and sold? It would really help to get an idea of the type of domains pros are looking for. Totally get if not though.

    Thanks as always!
    Dave
