  • Yikes...I get concerned when I get too close to 3%

So far today GA tells me...Bounce Rate = 2.16%

You possibly have the code appearing twice on the page, then, Charles (maybe once in the header, and once in the footer, by mistake? That would give an artifically low figure like 2%).

A true bounce-rate of 2.16% would be rather surprising, to put it mildly. That's probably an "error indication", not a real figure.

    Ugly.

Review the type of traffic you're getting. Either it's not at all targeted to what you offer at your site . . . or

What you offer is in no way compelling or of value once a prospect comes to your site.

You need to fix the problem before you worry about more traffic, making offers, or building a list. It should be your top priority.

  • You could be right, but the site is over 4 years old and the highest my bounce rate has been was 6% (a few years back). I've changed themes and plugin over that time and used standard plugins for my site and page/post SEO.

It is an authority site with over 10k articles indexed, but now that you say that...I'm going to have to go dig into the code to see if you are right

I'm hoping to be wrong, natch.

But in every other case I've seen (only a few, admittedly) where people reported bounce-rates of 1%/2%, that turned out to be the answer.

  • Looks like it's just in the header (unless my old eyes missed it somewhere else).

I'm getting ready to change server hosts in the next couple of weeks so once they start tearing apart the code (my site needs to drastically speed up) I'll be sure to have them double check.
