App programmers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand normally charge $20 to $50 / hour. In Russia and India, it's around $10 to $20 / hour. In China and Bangladesh, it's $5 to $10 / hour...

    I recommend oDesk.Com and Freelancer.Com...

P.S. Keep in mind that many app programmers can't do decent user interface designs. It's difficult to find a good developer with good UI design experience. This is why I first look for good UI designers with decent development knowledge, in order to finalize mock-up UI designs, before I hand the project to a good developer with decent UI design knowledge...

Depends where you look and what level of skills they have. You can most definitely find people in Russia, the USA, etc. for $10-20/ hour, but people in the USA are usually a lot more expensive. Some will go a lot higher.

I would only hire someone after I find that their portfolios are satisfactory. You should check to see what kind of apps they have in the app store and check the quality of those apps.

Very few apps are successful when the owner doesn't understand how to program. If you want to get into the app business, you really have to learn how to create apps yourself. The only real alternative is if you find a partner to go in with you who knows how to program. Hiring programmers and not knowing what is going on is often a recipe for failure.

Elance or odesk are good shouts if you need a programmer. There are ways to put an app together without programming experience but it really depends on what you want the app to do.

What I would recommend if you want to use a freelance coder is to make sure you know step by step what you want the app to do so that all they need to do is code it. If you want everything done in exacty the way you imagined it then you need to have a flow chart of how you want the app to work so that the freelancer can literally follow it step by step. The less they need to think the better your app will be.

It starts from $17 depending on the pages used in app - upto 2000$
Define your app and all analysis will be done by the developers.
    Hire the best developer.

How much a good programmer will cost you depends on what kind of app do you need and on how much experience do they have.
I recommend you go to Elance and similar websites and post your requests. Then wait for people to bid on your project and check out their portfolio, their experience and see who best fits your needs.

Yes, I largely depend on the complexity of the app you want.

I recommend that if this your first app, that you start simple.

Getting it out and profitable is priority.

      Good luck

Normally expert app developer will charge you $15-$25 per hour. You can find them on market places like Odesk, Elance, Freelancer. I have a suggestion for you. When you are going to hire someone, please take a look on his feedback and reviews.

If you have enough ambition there are some fairly high quality easy app creators online available that work similar to a CMS site like wordpress.

    Checkout:
    1) Shoutem

or if your idea is more game orientated

    2) Gamesalad

That is depending how long you are actually willing to put in time and effort yourself however.

Depending on how difficult your idea is you can also higher people on odesk, fiverr, elance, and freelancer for a fairly low price

  • Your best (And cheapest bets would be)

    1) Outsourcing..

Use Freelancer or ODesk or outsource straight to specific programmers in countries like India, Phillepies etc

    2) Software

I have heard of many software that create apps.. (Sorry, cant remember there names)
Look on google, and on JVZoo products for app creation software

Of course you won't get the flexibility.

    Hope this helps

Just wondered if anyone has used App programmers from India and the quality of the end product is like? I understand that the standard of programming is much higher than some western countries and I just wondered if anyone had direct experience?

I have hired a developer from Pakistan for a small project. I would not use them for a large project as the language barrier, cultural differences etc... can cause headaches.
