Build an email list and promote there. Your email list is where you can get personal with your visitors and really push the product on them (not to mention you'll have plenty of opportunities to promote other products as well.)

Use YouTube and Guest Posting, but use those to drive people to your squeeze page instead of to the product sales page itself. You'll make way more sales and you'll have people to promote to for the long-term.

I've already got web hosting and some very basic wordpress knowledge/skills. That's all.

You don't need to reveal your methods in the video. The videos you create can be informational ones providing information about weight loss or they can be promotional, promoting your product or whatever you are giving away on your signup page.

You don't let them follow the link to opt-in. You just put an opt-in on your first page, and people will fill those forms if they are interested (I know many people do in this way)

I don't know if this works for you. To be honest, it really depends on if your visitors are interested in your product. They will leave their email address and other informations there if they like your product and willing to hear from you later on. Otherwise, they might just leave...

if you are just wanting to promote the sales page, then use your own squeeze page to make your own list that directs to the sales page after..
