What do you think about my niche and marketing plan?

Hi warriors,

I'm a computer security professional (my full-time job) and I have a lot of experience with computer viruses, malware etc. I also have a technology blog where I have several articles about protection from viruses etc (among other things).

My niche is computer security and virus protection and I'm planning to promote antivirus/antimalware software products as an affiliate.

I have started creating my "lead magnet" which is going to be a free e-course (4-5 days course) about protecting your computer from 99% of viruses and malware. I will include great tips and content that you don't find easily on the internet. The "lead magnet" will be used for email opt-in purposes.

My marketing and monetization plans are the following:

I will create several landing pages which will be instructions and tutorials about removing specific viruses. For example, Landing Page 1 will be about "how to remove virus X", Landing Page 2 will be about "how to remove virus Y" etc.

On each landing page, I will have affiliate links for antivirus programs and also I will have an email opt-in for my e-course "lead magnet". So, I will have the opportunity to either make affiliate sales or get an email opt-in.

I will be driving traffic to my landing pages using paid traffic (Bing PPC, banners etc).

Now, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have the above combination on the same landing page (i.e affiliate links and opt-in on the same page).

My questions are the following:

• Do you believe it's a good idea to have landing pages with both affiliate links and email opt-in or it will be better to just drive traffic to a squeeze page for the email opt-in.

• Do you have any experience or do you believe that my niche (computer virus protection etc) will respond well to email marketing?

I will appreciate any help on the above questions. Also any other feedback about my niche, marketing plan etc is welcome.

Harris

Overall , I think having one of the other on your landing pages would be better than both. I don't know this market, but I suspect anyone lookng for this kind of help would be in a more desperate situation than one of wanting long term information.

Protection like this is critical, but I bet many people don't think about it until its broken. Its kind of like selling insurance, you know you need it, but the number of people who are going out and looking for it ahead of time, is pretty small.

I don't mean anything here about your services or professionalism in yor work, in fact I think this is a great idea that many people would be well advised to take advantage of.

I think overall you will be better off offering an immediate solution

Thanks Michael for your valuable comments.

The reason that I will be targeting people who are looking to get rid of some virus problems is because of the pain and desperate situation they are in, so I believe offering them both an immediate solution (antivirus tools) and also training about how to avoid their pain in the future will be ideal IMHO

If it is outside MMO Niche I go with just the email Optin on Landing.

But I am not real familiar with this Niche. Maybe if someone is desperate to rid their Computer of Virus they might want to go ahead and take a look at a Program ( Aff. Prod) that could help them.

I know about 4 months ago I was in that boat and I was desperate to get my Laptop repaired.

But I would make them Optin first then have a Product maybe on Thank you page.
