hi,

where do recommend to buy a domain name (that includes privacy option)?
i have used hostmonster.com...they used to give
privacy option for free but now they charge $10 per domain + $5 extra for privacy...

is there any website that provides website domain name
with free prviacy option?

I have a reseller account at Reseller Section. Free privacy protection. $8.25 for .com domains. Lots of other goodies you can sell too.

Yes namecheap gives you free whois protection. I use them for all my domain registrations because of that and they have a much better interface than other registers.

  I have a lot of domains with godaddy, but I haven't bought any through them for a very long time. (And won't be either)
  
  They have too much of a history of holding your site to ransom etc if you do something that doesn't please them, plus they will charge you a fine etc.

$8 domain name ( .com ) with free domain privacy also.

speaking of domain names...if i already have a web domain name
registered with hostmonster, can i change it to namecheap (or something else)
instantly so that you can get the privacy option?

have any of you guys done that and is it easy to do?

hey guys...

i just bought a domain name from namecheap
and when i try to get the EPP code to transfer to hostmonster (which i use),
namecheap says:

Registry rules state that a domain can't be transferred within 60 days of registration. Please wait for 60 days and try again. We apologize for the inconvenience.

so you have to wait 2 months to transfer to your hosting account from namecheap to something else?

is there a FASTER way to immediately transfer a namecheap domain name
to be hosted on some other web hosting service?

appreciate your help if you can...

I get mine at Namecheap.com - they are under ten bucks and if you Google
"namecheap coupon" you can always get a buck knocked of so you end up paying under nine bucks.
They offer free Privacy guard with each domain as well.

You shouldn't need to transfer your domain name to your hosting provider in order to host your website.

Just set your name servers to point to where you are hosting your website.

You can transfer a domain name from one registrar to another but it generally takes some time and involves jumping through some hoops to get it done.

  A few years back I transfered all my domain from network solutions to GoDaddy and have been much happier there.
  
  If you use a coupon at GoDaddy it will only cost you around $7.50 per domain insteady of $35.00.

Dynadot.com offers $9.95 domains plus $2 privacy and a grace period so that if you change your mind, you can "return" the domain for a credit. Never had a problem with them...LOVE Dynadot!

I totally agree on Dynadot. They also have an easy to understand interface. I hate the busy interface and constant upselling with GoDaddy.

namecheap transfer is only $7.99 .....does that mean it will be renewed at that 7.99 rate every year? that's much cheaper than the 9.95 rate...wonder why it's cheaper...

Like BJ Min mentioned above NameCheap whois privacy service is free only the first year, it's around $2/year with each renewal. Still much better than GoDaddy's $8.99 or whatever they charge now.

The new coupon code at namecheap for Aug09 is solarsea & will give you price of $8.81 compared with normal price of $9.69. As usual, they have promotion of free whois guard for first year only with all new registrations. I also have account at moniker & they do charge at cheaper rates compared to namecheap, only that you have to buy the whois protection separately, at $4/year. Hope this helps.

Name.com most of the times, but whenever I see a good offer at namecheap I buy it there.

Both of them are good but I feel name.com is somehow more user-friendly.

I also use NameCheap and, if you have more than 50 domain with them, they'll give you a discount coupon for renewals, as well as new domains (although you do have to ask for it; they won't volunteer it).

I always buy at Godaddy, I don't like their hosting though, but you can get domain names at bargain prices. There're always some coupons floating around that I can get a .com domain for $2 something.

  I've been using GoDaddy for domain registrations for years and have been very happy with their service.
  
  The ONLY complaint I've had is with the price of private registrations. It just didn't seem right that keeping your information private should cost as much as the domain name itself.

I use namecheap as well....currently getting 1 year free privacy with each domain. Price per domain is around $10 I think, but you can get a promo code to drop it to around $8. Not a huge discount, but it ads up if you're buying a lot of domains.

Google "namecheap discount code" or "namecheap promo code" to find promo codes. I do this for all purchases online and find quite a bit of solid discounts available.

I for one am preety happy with godaddy.com...

As I host my own, I bypass all the up sale knick knacks and just get the domain names. Always a very low price and so far, only one problem in the past 7 years.
