the sales cycle always depends on you and the buyer. Your sales skills, and if the buyer has the money, can finance, or if they already know what they want.


Just with anything, you have to find the hot buttons to it all. Find the typical obstacles blocking them. Its in the same boat with most toys in some ways. Yachts, jet ski's ect.


Pull together the target market, find obstacles, hot buttons, and study buyers.




Most car sales people piss me off. Like there were times where I just wanted to walk away and never come back. A lot of people throw sales bs at you and they don't even frikin listen. They think they know the answers but they don't. Ive been annoyed plenty of times because they kept talking about things I don't even care about.


However, I have met a few car sales people that were really good, they knew their target market, they knew the person that was walking on the car sales lot, they knew when to keep there distance. They were high class. I tried getting advice from them on what they knew, that's how professional they were.


If you don't have good customer service, you don't have anything. Customer service is the most important.


So make sure you know your buyers. And you have to match their reality 110%. Visit a jet sales company and find a sales person you can talk to. Contact the company you are affiliating with and ask how they train their sales people.


Then also, why would someone in the buying business buy from you? Are you that guy that knows all about jets? Are you the go to guy? can you consult them? Do you know the trends for buying? Do you know something that can save a buyers ass?


Dude, the main thing that gets me is if someone can save my ass before I make a move. If you can save someone millions, you have earned their trust and your stay. You just created a powerful rep.


I haven't sold Jets. But if you are into selling, go hit the books, go to a book store and walk out with 7 books. Read them until you know every technique in each book. Then do a lot of studying on trends and all that.


If you are obsessed with the art of selling, then you are on the right track.

I'm going to guess that might be a tough market to break in to.

People who buy jets probably don't buy online with Paypal...

Nope - totally wrong.

The prices of some second-hand jets on websites with affiliate schemes are far lower than you imagine.

I don't know, but in the past I've promoted both jet-chartering services (with some success, and it's potentially a very good niche for those with the right skills and experience) and fractional ownership "jet-share" (without any success at referring sales and being paid for them). I'm not still involved in either niche.

Please excuse my mentioning that I think these are very far from ideal niches for marketers without considerable experience.

I made the mistake of trying these before I had enough experience of successful targeted traffic-generation, and at a point when I had exactly some of the beliefs I suspect you may currently have.

In particular, if your philosophy is that "it's just as easy to sell a high-ticket item as a low-ticket one, online", then I urge you to postpone your potential interest in this niche, because that perspective completely ignores the facts that (a) they typically sell to very different traffic demographics and (b) the type of relationships on the basis of which they sell are typically radically different.

No; it's definitely absolutely nothing like that, at all.

In my opinion, it's a niche to look at and think about after you've acquired quite a lot of skills and experience at promoting high-ticket items, after you appreciate clearly that building trust-based relationships is the underlying basis of successful affiliate marketing, and especially after you're familiar with both the inevitable commission-payment security issues inolved in such niches and the means of circumventing them.

And even with my experience of this niche, I'm not comfortably able to answer your other questions in ways likely to help you; sorry.

Yeah man - this is a tough one. I make a VERY good living online already, but I would not touch this one as it's jut too damn competitive. People just don't go looking online for Websites to buy jet's - they ask their friends for recommendations, or they "know somebody who knows a guy"...

*Source: I've got a friend that OWNS a private Jet, he bought used from the owner of a Jet Chartering company in Miami he's familiar with. Cost was a few million, but again - when you're making that kind of money - you already know people, you're not going to be searching online for email lists to join about buying jets...

Plus you can't just 'Sell a jet with an email'. You'd be better off building a travel niche website, or even your own "jets for sale" type website with re-directs to the affiliate links.

My advice, as others have stated - learn the basics first before jumping into this area...

Thanks for the helpful responses! You've enlightened me to look at this at a different angle. This is why I like to get real world opinions, and not just book theory. Well I was really book theory heavy. I figured study the books then go out and do and take the lumps. Not a smart move, and it cost me money. I should have studied then came here and asked about the theory before taking significant actions.

I was looking to hit the lotto by targeting keywords like "where to buy jets" and 2400 other related ones, then create banner ads to a squeeze page with a report that talks about the risks involved with buying jets. Send abut 500-1000 people typing those keywords a day to the squeeze page. Get them on an email list and keep educating them about the proper things they should do when buying jets based off articles I find online then send affiliate links to them to places where they can get the jets.

Seems like this cookie cutter method might not fly so well. I'll just focus on my book launch for now, and may circle back around to doing this when I have more experience.

The higher the ticket on the item, the more you spend on acquiring the customer.

Take CPC for example. Just to get someone to CLICK on an ad for lawyers costs, what, $40? $80? And that's for the chance of landing a client worth a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.

To prospect for a buyer of a jet worth $100,000 to $1M+, it would cost a fortune.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it would cost a lot and because of the low number of transactions, there would be no numbers to look at or analyze/optimize. Seems like more of a crap shoot than a business. Just my two cents though, I hope it works for you.
