Hmmm...do you really get traffic from articles?

I submitted 2 articles to EZA. My first one got published about 16 hours ago. I checked my stats and I got 0 hits. Nothing at all.

Im a little bummed by this. I thought writing articles was supposed to bring in some traffic.

Does it take longer?
I actually thought Id get a rush of traffic in the beginning and then it would trickle off as newer articles come in and push mine down the list

Well, the first answer is, YES, I get traffic from articles. But that is the general response...there are a HOST of variables you have left out of your post that after delving into, may give you the true answer to your problem.

What is the subject of your articles? What are the titles? What kind of QUALITY is the writing? Etc.

Without more info, it would be hard to dig any deeper...but, yes, well written, well titled, well keyworded articles WORK. I don't want to give any specifics, because it would seem like self promotion...but I have MUCH quantification that articles work...:-)

I get minimal traffic from articles. I use Brad Callen's article submitter (GREAT product BTW) and send articles all over. I get tons of repostings, and tons of backlinks, but the actual traffic, is minimal.

When I say minimal, I mean about 100-200 uniques a day. Just a fraction of my traffic comes from them, BUT... the backlinks are great.

I've nailed a lot of good SERPS just from articles. Worth the effort.

If you are submitting 100-200 articles a day and are not getting decent traffic to your website then you are doing something wrong. I have just started to implement article marketing and I don't submit a fraction of that amount of articles and I am seeing nice results. I would definitely suggest to make sure you are doing proper keyword research for starters.

Yeah, if you aren't getting 1,000 visitors within a few hours, you're probably not reaching the right demographic.

The short answer is yes..you get traffic from article marketing. BUT, you need to target keywords that aren't that competitive to do so. In a few days, IF your keywords aren't something like "make money online" or "lose weight now", then you should see a smattering of visitors.

I have had articles drive 1,000 visits a month. I have also had articles that got like 20 visits over a period of several months. The bottom line is it really depends on where your article eventually falls in the SERPS.

    Hope that helps.

Article marketing takes time and nothing but time. It's quite a commitment if you think about it. Your post tells me you really need to read up on some article marketing material (I recommend you read threads from Tim Gorman, Steve Wagenheim, Dean Shainin, and Daniel Molano posted a couple good ones recently, my apologies to any misspellings of names).

You also don't want to just submit your articles and forget about them. Start giving them some link juice. Take the RSS feed links and post them on RSS directories. That's just for starters. Create a blog and post your articles there too.

    Good luck.

  • Wow! Instant results. Billions of webpages... and it's as if people are just all over the world waiting to pounce on that one article you or I or someone else wrote.

You kind of have to think about your customer and market and topic and niche.

It's unrealistic to expect instant results unless you can get your work in front of a whole lot of people though a viral social site.

Load up Google Analytics and track your article traffic.

Shaq makes 20 million a year playing basketball and I can still outshoot him from the freethrow line. It's not about one article.

    Hi mg1000,

Article marketing is a long term game plan. Your end goal is to get your articles in the top 3 results on Google's first page. You do that by keyword optimizing your article's content and title. AND, you continuously add backlinks to your articles to help boost your article's rankings in the SERPs.

Being in the top SERPs will give you a steady traffic flow to your article.

Remember, when it comes to article marketing, you need to think long term!

Before deciding that article marketing doesn't work check the article you wrote for 3 things:

      1. Is the title attractive? Would people want to click on it to read more?

      2. Is the content interesting? Does it teach the reader something valuable?

      3. Does the resource box have a call to action that is related to the content?

If any one of these is done badly, you won't get much response from your article.

What should be considered as a good level of traffic?
Is it 1,000 visitors within a few hours or 1,000 visitors in the whole month?

As Michael Franklin said "Article marketing is long term." You are not going to get thousands of visitors to your website as soon as the article is published. If in fact you do get 1,000 visitors in one month that would be a successful article in my book. The great thing is that article marketing can multiplied so many times. You have to think about the long term effects. That is why I started to dip into article marketing. If you are looking for instant traffic try PPC but make sure you know what you are doing and you have money for testing.

You wrote 2 articles and didn't have any results by the end of the day? I guess it's time to throw in the towel. This internet marketing stuff is a load of crap and doesn't work anyway.

I'm sorry for the HEAVY sarcasm but seriously, it's going to take more than 2 articles and 16 hours to see positive results. And like someone else said there are lots of vaiables.

You need to have a niche that has buyers, good keywords, good title, article, and resource box, a decent landing page with an offer that converts, and probably a few other things that I left out.

To get long term traffic from your articles you'll also need to get them ranking in the search engines.

If you expect to get tons of traffic because you've written 2 articles, one of which has been live for 16 hours you're going to be very disappointed. If it were that easy, the people who have several hundred articles out there would all be billionaires by now.

I didn't say I was expecting tons, I said I was surprised that an article sitting at the top of the list for hours gets 0 clicks.
I used to work in another arena where there was a lot more traffic. Since I'm new to this I wondering what the realities are for results with article submission, thats all

There are 2 reasons you din't get a traffic.
    1. you din't wrote on a hot niche. or
    2. your resource box content is not so powerful to get a CTR.

I submitted Articles to EZA often times and one of my article which I have Submitted last 7 months back and still I got a much traffic to my website. Yes, I agree with you my friend at the starting time we got a lot's of traffic The reason is a new article which display some time on main page of EZA and the other comes from your competitors.
